Need help choosing a timber for a deck that needs replacing
Comments (12)We used spotted gum for our decking and love it! We got it for $4.25 linear metre from Masters (any lengths that were inferior they were happy to replace). Our deck was built next to our near-white pavers so merbau was out of the question due to its leaching (plus we also were wanting an eco-friendly local hardwood if possible)....See MoreNew Jarrah timber deck and posts. Comments (7)I am leaning toward this product CD50 EXTREME so we don't have to strip back the coating any time. I'm prepared to recoat every 8 months to keep it looking good. I'll prob use a slight tint just for extra sun protection. It's next to a pool and spa and full sun so wish me luck! Would love to get more opinions. My builder says use Sikens but I never want the issue of the finish flaking and splitting and then having to strip back....See MoreHardwood Timber Decking or Composite Decking?
Comments (3)Composite decking such as Modwood is much more practical! Timber is a lovely natural material, however you have to finish it and then worry about the maintenance down the track. If you want to avoid stains leaching everywhere than composite decking is definitely the answer. As an initial outlay, it is 2-3 times more expensive.... You will get this cost back down the track when you don't have to refinish it every 12 months!...See MoreHow to join our timber deck to our pool?
