I'd look at plumbing it in to your main line. To save oodles of money get a heap of quotes from plumbers for the whole thing, then get the price broken down into sections. If you can do all the manual work a good plumber will really work with you all the way. Find out exactly what piping and fixings you need, search around all local suppliers, even check gum tree, eBay buy bits & pieces as you can afford it. Once you have everything start digging! Your plumber should advise you on what heights, depths and specifications he needs, once done everything can be left exposed for inspection and connection. He'll love walking in going from section to section just putting it all together and certifying off and there's no reason why he wouldn't give you a great price:)

So the primary focus of a splashback really should be function for sure – it needs to be a smooth surface that can be wiped clean quickly, effectively and bw waterproof. But that’s not to say the splashback shouldn’t look terrific in the process, either. These days they are anything from tiles, glass, acrylic, pressed metal.. even art! :) I'm gauging from the responses so far mirrors 'do' tend to go 'hand in hand' with hand washing. On this particular project it wasn't a necessity and offered an opportunity to try something away from conventional design so to speak and allow for a corner art splashback to take pride of place in an unexpected place. Civic Steel I've been informed more selfies have been taken in that small bathroom than any other place in the home recently which was amusing to find out :) and Jmm1837 I've completed many feature walls and art installations, I may possibly have to consider working 'around' a mirror on future backsplash projects. Your bathroom is a little bit dated and daggy, however the pedestal basin does match everything else. As mentioned above it is the three drawer cabinet which looks out of place and is letting the bathroom down. Don't waste your money on buying something cheap that is going to look out of place. Potential buyers appreciate a spotless bathroom and can spot a cheap re-purposed cabinet (like you already have). If you really think that you need more storage then keep the pedestal basin where it is and buy/rent a lovely (not cheap looking) dressing table, with a large mirror that complements the bathroom that you can take with you. Something like this would be perfect if you can get the size right, but sadly is not for sale. Get rid of that awful, off-centre mirror that doesn't match, or align with anything. Hi Hu, In terms of shower placement - not necessarily. It can be where ever you wanted it and common sense will prevail. A consideration with the smart tile grates (dependent on which you use) sometimes they dont allow the water to escape fast enough. They have a tendency to sit low in the cradle and inhibit the water drainage. If the water is sitting around your feet the drainage point would seem to be in the right place. It could be a partially blocked drain and that can be myriad of reasons. There are silicon seals that clip on the door that will stop water (nearly always a problem with frame-less screens) escaping. But please talk to your Builder and get him/her to examine the problem. Ask your Builder to get the plumber back to check it out for you. I hope this is helpful. Cheers Trevor
