External privacy screen solutions?
Comments (15)Hi Gioenne. Not really. We purchased "advanced" Lilly Pillies for along the back of the fence. They're about the same height as the fence (1.8m). We've also been keeping the interior blinds partially lowered / closed. At the moment, we don't have any outdoor furniture so privacy while relaxing or entertaining outside hasn't been a big problem. Once we have purchased some outdoor furniture we'll re-evaluate the situation depending upon how much the Lilly Pillies have grown. With all of the other "new home" expenses, we'll probably just entertain in full view of our neighbours!...See MoreHow to modernise external brick arches.
Comments (23)@girlguides we haven't finished the project but this is the architect's concept drawing of our abode. Note that we have already had the new louvres installed on the top floor but we went with white frames instead. And unsure if we will go to the effort of changing the current soffits from fibro to the wooden panels on this picture due to the money and time that would go into replacing something that works perfectly well. And we will now most likely have another driveway on the most left side of the house for a carport on that side, as the current carport is only wide enough for one car, and we always need parking for at least 2 cars. We now have to figure out how to build in the underneath in terms of where to place the internal stairs, the bedrooms, and most importantly the front door. Will update with our plans once finalised!...See MoreWindow/sliding door treatment?
Comments (2)You can use a shutter blind, it's pretty good, secure and also allows airflow You can design them @ qualityblinds.com.au and see for yourself which fits better!...See MoreAre roller blinds our best option?
Comments (19)Luxaflex Silhouette blinds would be a great option for you, you get complete privacy at night but have the option of privacy during the day as well while allowing full light. Unfortunately, they are also VERY expensive. Although you want to roll the blinds totally out of the way during the day have you considered the aspect of your rooms? Rooms facing East will have morning sun pouring in which can be very glary even in winter and of course rooms facing West will have all the hot afternoon sun making your rooms like ovens. Rooms facing North will have the sun in winter which of course is not at all unpleasant. As well you need to consider sun damage to your furniture and furnishings. Taking that into account, I think a normal block out roller blind would work well and maybe a double blind with mesh where sun might be a problem. There is a blind company I can highly recommend located on the Gold Coast but I'm not sure if they service Brisbane - No Bull Blinds. I had no trouble with their blinds at all and their service is excellent, nothing is too much trouble. You are getting close to Christmas now so you may find many companies are closing their books for pre-Christmas orders....See MoreCountry Blinds
