This isn't one of our projects but I hope you (and owner of the photo) don't mind me guesstimating the dimension. I'd say the width of the room is 1400-1600mm, the shower looks to be 900-1000mm deep and the vanity approximately 1500-1600mm long.

I can't help with the original source of the lights or mirror, sorry. But agree that it looks like they have tiled to the floors all the way though the main area and the shower, then done a 'skirt' tile in the main area and tiled the full walls of the shower.

"Small tiles in small space" has certainly come out of my mouth, more than once when advising clients, however trends change. Big tiles mean less grout, so not as much time spent cleaning. In this busy day and age, less time cleaning is a must follow trend.

Its sometimes tricky to follow an era theme, like the 60s, because elements of that era are just not practical anymore. Tiles can become a backdrop element and the features that carry the theme are the accessories, eg. taps, lights, mirror, as you've already said.

So I'd say go with the 600x600 tile, it will give you the practicality of a modern tile and you can accessories in the 60s style.

just to throw another option out there... a 600x300 tile might suit to help avoid some tile cutting. 600x600 tiles look great but if you have to make a stack of cuts to get fall to the floor wastes, they loose their effect. Best to talk with your tiler and plumber to make sure the tiles and floor wastes are working well together.... Its a small detail but done right, looks great.

I had forgotten about remembering the possible difficulty in getting the fall to the floor wastes if the tiles are too big...very good point...(only issue is that the tiles that I like are only in 300x300 or 600 x600....I would love to do small hexagons but just keep thinking about things dating so will probably be conservative with tiles and then as you and lady at tile shop said...use the other accessories to bring in the sixties elements)...

sounds like you've got a little bit to think about, but I'd be sticking with the 600x600 and making sure the waste points go into the right spots.
I love the hexagon tiles too, but am not sure how well they will date either, guess only time will tell ;)

Thanks Nicole. Could you let me know where you got your tiles from and what colour they are on the floor. Yes, I also have the same issue with no window being in room and would also have liked to take the darker tile up the wall. My sister (who also is getting a bathroom done), said that the plumber, tiler and person in shop all said to go with the smaller tile due to difficulties with doing the levels (slope on the floor) with the bigger tiles....was your tile okay with this and are you having a frameless shower? I am not sure what to do yet. I like the colour of your floors - not too dark and not too light.
