Small room to fit bathroom & laundry and toilet...?
Comments (3)challenging! i think a separate toilet and vanity area and bath/laundry works better and allows for multiple person occupancy but, measurements are critical so, a toilet shortest front to back leaves more leg room and an extra big drop in handbasin would look best in the bathroom instead of a laundry tub and what about an old fashioned shower curtain instead of a glass screen if you like the big bathtub with shower instead of a walk in super wide shower with glass screen. The scale of the laundry/bath wall cabinets will fit best (and have more storage for linen, laundry supplies and shampoo etc) if you use a 30cm deep kitchen wall cabinet (with mirror doors) instead of the usuall medicine cabinet depth The tall skinny cabinet in the vanity area should just fit an ironing board and skinny vacuum cleaner with linen under the small drop in (makes the bench more spacious) handbasin ...The doorway into the vanity area has no door, although an in-wall slider would be OK coming from the toilet side, a swinging door would just be in the way...the two windows in the bathroom are placed to maximise ventilation and should be no more than 75cm wide and 120cm tall (frosted glass?) Careful choice of fittings should have everything fitting in OK, good luck with it...See MoreHelp with Bathroom & Laundry Layout
Comments (3)having the bathroom next to a bedroom suggests an extra door to create a full guest "suite" which also makes the house more appealing for two singles sharing while still providing an everyday toilet accessed through the laundry...there should be no need to move the windows or toilet position although the central wall has been replaced with a stud wall with cavity sliding door off set to screen the toilet from view through the open laundry door..the bathroom includes a generous 1500 x 900 shower or shower over small tub and a 1000 wide vanity (for guest towels, linen, toilet rolls etc) and (subject to accurate window size and shape) superimposing a decorative mirror or blinds in front of the window adds privacy ...the laundry has space for a stacked washer and dryer, single drop in tub over Lshaped cabinet (about 1700 x 1100) with open space under the corner for a tall laundry basket and cat litter nook below open shelf or drawers (for laundry and cat supplies) ...there's room for two separate tall storage cabinets for vacuum and/or narrow open voids for broom and freestanding ironing board etc and the plan shows a position for either a fold down or freestanding ironing board with dotted lines showing wall cabinets or open shelves overhead hanging racks above the sink and ironing board for hanging clothes for drip drying and before and after ironing...See MoreLaundry/bathroom layout and reno advice please
Comments (19)@AAB That Ikea one looks like it has good dimensions from above, but I think you'd find 20cm too shallow to double as a useful laundry tub. If you could find one that was twice that depth… I did encounter such a sink in a long-stay apartment hotel I stayed in recently. The bathroom was fitted out with a combined washer-dryer unit and the "basin" – while styled aesthetically like a bathroom basin and oval in shape as well as rounded in cross-section – was really big. You could have washed a large baby in it! So clearly that kind of thing is available. It did require a fairly deep vanity to mount it in, but that was there to accommodate the depth of the washer-dryer anyway. The only thing with a deep vanity is you absolutely need to mount the mirror on a cabinet to bring it forward, not directly on the wall. If you don't do that anyone who is short and/or short-sighted has a hard time using the mirror for practical purposes such as shaving, inserting contact lenses, or applying makeup. (Yes, I discovered this during my hotel stay too!)...See MoreBathroom and Laundry Planning Help
Comments (38)View from powder room with door open is looking through the hallway section into an office / spare bedroom built in wardrobe (if the door is open). Not too concerned with that as door to room is usually closed. I definitely think I'd prefer to save that money and use it on something else, like maybe popping in a little basin over the top of the toilet.... I think it also creates easier access to the toilet when in the main part of the house instead of so another turn... Re the measurements: 930 x 2130 for laundry external door including trim. Also, I am currently just having a look at revamping the toilet room and am in process of painting the walls antique white from a very dark purple (don't worry, going to add interest in there somewhere won't be all white haha) and now figuring out how to embrace the tiles I have with some design and colour choices with walls and window trim or resurface them.. I have a photo below if anyone has ideas but maybe this warrants another post in a different section.. (also note i had to paint on the top of the wall tiles in a line as previous painter had done a shocker of a job...) I am contemplating a toilet/basin unit to save space and putting a kind of inserted custom shelf and frame option in the window to hide it (ugly old window with old paint marks all around the outside) to put plants and some small glass vases on but still have some light coming through. (Also, can't remove the window as I can't match the bricks outside (80's mottled brick) as directly in front of entertaining area. I also can't afford to replace at this stage)....See Moreoklouise
