So far you have five colours for your exterior. I'd stick with one of those for the door and window frames. Hogs Bristle 1/4 is a nice neutral.

I would be looking to counterbalance the intensity of the orange brick by introducing some olive greens into the trim and gutters. I don't know if your budget would extend to refinishing the roof tiles in a similar green. Get samples of Colorbond Pale Eucalyptus and Wilderness to see how they look against the brick. If neither work then consider Colorbond Woodland Grey. Of course some decent landscaping will help break up the mass of orange and soften the look. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

No worries, Emma. I envy anyone who can picture an outcome from a 5x4cm colour swatch. I can’t. I need a bigger, more realistic visual clue. We’ve been through the same mind changes with selections too, including whether to render or not. We were fearful of creating lifelong work, fixing potential cracks in the render and repainting. In the end, we decided to leave it alone, and have an unassuming (or even deceptive) street look that makes everyone go ‘wow’ when they walk through the door because inside is not what they expected from the outside. We’ll see how the house dates in the years to come and re-visit the idea of rendering at that time. But like you, my main prob is the colour of the window frames. I’ve spray painted some internal frames. They look heaps better. Just gotta get motivated to do some more!

I look at the big picture , and something doesn't quite 'click' -- clean the bricks ( might need chemicals ? ) , do the windows in crisp white , and it won't look TOO bad , but then the rest looks dated . The 2 blues are so 1980's . The garage door looks okay , but needs crisp white surrounds . But then the rest gets weird -- the triangular eve on the garage , in wood and in steel blue , whilst the other eve isn't triangular , isn't blue , and isn't timber -- its the same brick as below ! Repaint -- maybe the lighter blues in a light to mid grey ; the rest in charoal . But all in timber ( as you'd never be able to do that brick above the garage ) . Better ?
