Are farmhouse sinks overrated?
Comments (151)We have four farmhouse style sinks in two different houses, and all present the same problem. It doesn't have anything to do with the material as two sinks are concrete, one stainless steel, and one composite stone. With the two kitchen sinks it's very frustrating spraying out the food particles from corner to corner. Food particles go from one side to the other, and it's very difficult to corral them to the drain. The two concrete bathroom sinks don't have enough slope, so when shaving and brushing teeth, the water and material flow to the opposite side of the sink. It's annoying to wash a 3' wide sink every time it's used. And gross if the sink isn't cleaned from side to side after every use. As a compromise, we're installing a farmhouse concrete bathroom sink with two drains and more slope. As I evaluate many things in life, a, farmhouse sink is a solutions looking for problem....See MorePool Fencing
Comments (7)Definitely Glass! Fully frameless is the way to go. Visually it disappears allowing you to view your pool area uninterrupted, no posts or prison bar effect. If you can't afford to do the whole lot at least do the the part you directly look at from the house and do the aluminum pool fence on the sides. You don't have to clean a glass fence anymore than you do your windows outside. I have 25 mts of it... Hardly ever touch it. Best is just a soft broom and a hose! It also has the added benefit of being a wind break when you are in the pool. Just make sure it's ASA approved and installed by a reputable company to comply with code....See MoreBack deck balustrade and Pool fence upgrade

Comments (17)Thank you so much everyone for your great ideas, advice and uploads. I've decided on glass for pool fencing, Dune for render colour, but still undecided about front balustrade and handrails. While I love the idea of stainless steel, I'm still not confident that a modern look will suit the front facade. I keep coming back to the classic look in Lesley's pic but wonder whether white powder coating is the way to go or whether it would be too busy for my facade as I have stairs/handrails to consider. Still pondering over too many choices!...See Moremishty48
