Suggestions on improving the appearance of the exterior of this house
Comments (4)Perhaps you could have a small gate in front of the front door with a path leading through the lawn to the door like this? The deck would then become a potential seating area if it is big enough rather than the ain through was for pedestrians. Also I think the side fence would look smarter painted a dark colour . I think contemporary pickets with flat tops would look good perhaps in charcoal or black to give contrast with the house. I would also pick up a bit of the darker colour somewhere in the house to tie the two together....See MoreUpdating the exterior of a 1990's style house
Comments (14)I just had a chance to look at all those photos. There are some really great landscaping ideas, and I love that groovy picket fence. We are keen on the idea of a grey roof and getting rid of the wooden horizontal things - great suggestions. We are currently thinking of painting the roof grey (keep the tiles), and to actually paint the trim white.....so that it will match a new white pergola with a grapevine to provide protection from hot summers. Then we will move on to landscaping.......See MorePicket fence- TIMBER vs OTHER options (pvc aluminium)
Comments (10)Hey there, from price perspective pvc was the cheapest, then pine. And we decided actually on steel not aluminium, i like look of steel too. For 18m fence including 3m sliding gate excl auto, hight 1.2m picket: pvc - $2.6k material only pine- $3.8k including installation, not painted metal- $6k including installation Cute house, good luck with it :) If u are in melb, ill be happy to give u the details of a guy we are working on for metal fencing....See MoreHow would you extend a house next to this house?
Comments (17)As an aside I'm surprised as a southern neighbour that your neighbour's extension was deemed compliant with side setbacks regulations- it's quite imposing isn't it... My advice is that your extension in terms of style should have absolutely no influence from the neighbour, rather it needs to follow and draw direct reference and cues( in regards to scaling and articulation) from exclusively you own residence, which recall from a previous post is an impressive Federation frontage. Think about the flows of the spaces - probably on balance better to keep it as per the layout you have developed, rather than flip alfresco & living - a southern alfresco space boxed in by a pool that will be even more overshadowed is less ideal - better for an alfresco to connect directly to rear yard...See More- 7 years ago
