Well here we are yet again! I've not changed my opinion. The toilet-loo-privy- whatever one wants to call it needs a room of its own. Makes no sense to me having a "privacy wall" behind which to hide the pedestall if it is placed in a shower or full bathroom...the locked bathroom door is all that's needed. Seems to me that the concept of a separate toilet room or "Powder Room" (Why that title is anyone's guess)...was a sensible and accepted concept of homes in the 50's. It wasn't in need of any "polite" title, it was simply referred to as "The Toilet"..meaning basically -".where to freshen up". My idea of a perfectly sensible toilet is a separate little room housing the pedestal (toilet bowl) and a little basin with running water. Optional- a paper hand towel dispenser or one of those blowers...or a small towel rack and/or a nook for toilet paper...mabye to accomodate wet wipes in the absence of a basin or even where there's a basin....a nice comfy little Toilet Room..

I'd look at plumbing it in to your main line. To save oodles of money get a heap of quotes from plumbers for the whole thing, then get the price broken down into sections. If you can do all the manual work a good plumber will really work with you all the way. Find out exactly what piping and fixings you need, search around all local suppliers, even check gum tree, eBay buy bits & pieces as you can afford it. Once you have everything start digging! Your plumber should advise you on what heights, depths and specifications he needs, once done everything can be left exposed for inspection and connection. He'll love walking in going from section to section just putting it all together and certifying off and there's no reason why he wouldn't give you a great price:)

Your bathroom is a little bit dated and daggy, however the pedestal basin does match everything else. As mentioned above it is the three drawer cabinet which looks out of place and is letting the bathroom down. Don't waste your money on buying something cheap that is going to look out of place. Potential buyers appreciate a spotless bathroom and can spot a cheap re-purposed cabinet (like you already have). If you really think that you need more storage then keep the pedestal basin where it is and buy/rent a lovely (not cheap looking) dressing table, with a large mirror that complements the bathroom that you can take with you. Something like this would be perfect if you can get the size right, but sadly is not for sale. Get rid of that awful, off-centre mirror that doesn't match, or align with anything. Your renovations are well underway, so after seeing the small floor plan and that the vanity is on an internal wall and you apparently still want the Shaving Cabinet. Having cavity brick walls I would get your brickie to remove a section of the brick wall so that the shaving cabinet can be recessed back into the cavity, this will overcome any concerns you have about bumping your head, this opening can then be patched along with other walls. I would take all of your photos and measurements to someone like Reece to pick a hand basin to fit,, I would also keep in mind that if say the width of the vanity is around 900 the shaving cabinet would match that width and you would end up with say 2 x 450 mirrored doors, which puts the mirror join in the middle and in your face when using the vanity. cheers
