Comments (4)Thanks for your suggestions, I didn't think I wold get any response. I really like your suggestions for new tiles on the steps. It is something we hadn't considered at all (one of those areas you always walk past and never stop to consider). The whole front door area could use some love actually, it is a very dark entrance with its orientaton and it hasn't been clad underneath so it is still mission brown wood and the orange tiles to suck away the light. Do you have any thoughts on trees and their positioning? It would be great to have shade in summer, but I feel like with the height of the building on the right, that it needs a big tree on the left, which obiviously wouldn't work given we need to drive our cars there. The neighbours have their drive alongside ours which emphasises it even more. Thanks again....See MoreBest alfresco solution for north facing living and entertaining
Comments (6)Thank you very much for your suggestions. I do like the idea of the indoor flowing out to the outdoor so not sure a separate alfresco would suit. Something a bit off center towards the western end may work. I am also loving the idea of skylights in the house roof. Also considering keeping the main roof structure as is and adding a flyover roof for the alfresco that is quite high and slopes up to the north... I thought if not enough sun gets into the house in winter I could put a couple of skylights or translucent strips near the house end of the flyover....See MoreHow best to reno our old fibro home, what to do with the sunroom?
Comments (13)it's great looking old cottage that just needs some TLC but the best investment for a rental would be to increase bedrooms without spending so much that the house needs to earn more income/higher rents to sustain a bigger investment ..my suggestion includes where necessary lining and insulating to make it more comfortable, repair or replace windows, make sure electrical and plumbing is in good safe working order, new lightfittings, floor and window coverings, install an extra toilet in the outdoor laundry, or add an üpstairs laundry and pantry, add pergola covered deck(s) to suit outlook and increase good weather living areas...See MoreBest roof line design for small extension on existing house
Comments (4)i can't read the dimensions to be more accurate but depending on the difference between the location of the nth wall of the living room and the north wall of the laundry the new roof could be continuous and a portico would be the same either way but there might need to be an extra space.. like a verandah or extended eve to make the roof shape simpler...See Morebj605
