I agree about the idea of putting roller blinds on your door , matching the colours of the others must mention about Annie Sloan paint : it is a chalk paint and you can apply it on any wood surface with at having to use primer, what " seals" the pain is the Annie Sloan wax you apply afterwards. You can Buy Annie Sloan on line , i use Annie Sloan a lot.it is expensive if you want the legs painted black to be smooth, just paint and wax , but one coat of Annie Sloan does not give a good coverage. It you want it " distressed" slightly, then just sand a few it on the edges afterwards, before the waxing With a slight " distressed" leg look, but you would need to give the top of the table a light sanding to " rough it up" on the edges if you want a good solid, coverage, Annie Sloan is not the right choice have a look on eBay, I have just bought some cages light to fit near my table outside ( I was just playing around with them yesterday before the electrician comes toda), they were only like $46 each

Hi anzella, loving the new table and chairs, because you live in North QLD I wouldn't worry about a rug under the table, apart from you climate I find rugs under tables can become very annoying . If however you do decide to have one down the track, Sisal Rugs are great for your climate, you can even make your own to whatever size by buying the sisal and edging it yourself or getting a carpet place to overlock the edges. Thanks Big Reader. I am not sure what the look would be called, maybe modern with a touch of traditional. The house is definitely mid century modern. I tend to like uncluttered simple rooms. Thinking this through, I am really trying to keep the furniture but update the room somewhat. I am no youngster but I can't stand walking into a room that looks & feels old if you know what I mean.

Anything with colour would be a bonus in your place IMO . So grab 4 cushions in the same blue , and 4 with say lighter blue and white stripes or chevrons ( wiggly things haha ) -- that references the dining chairs and brings in a lighter blue . The cushions are for the couch btw , in case you hadn't clicked haha . Maybe a rug . Definitely a larger artwork with the dark and lighter and maybe a mid blue too , a splash of yellow and orange and grey in places . Suddenly , its gone from drab to okay . One thing I do slightly worry about though is the table top colour -- its got olive green drab tones to the brown IMO , and will probably make both the top , and the chairs , look plain and almost muddy in vibe -- a Japanese Black stain on the table top ( similar to your island front ) would look better with blue chairs in my mind .
