Comments (2)I like the black ceaserstone with everything else white. I think avoiding a stripey effect is the key to being two tone and having the right midtone in the room to tie it together, grey can work well, or a warm neutral that will echo the tones of the natural wood of the floor. You can try painting the wall above the tile a darker colour to tie in the dark of the bench. There may not be much wall left above the splashback and around the overheads but it will still pull the space together. I like the idea of everything white except the bench top. Grey overheads will make the room seem smaller, definately white on top! Wooden blinds would look good with the floor too. If you want to go all white try and put some variation of texture or paint the wall a darker shade, even beige or cream or grey, grey/blue. It will break up the white feel. white on white works well IF you have variation in texture and really good quality finishes. Otherwise it can look soulless, boring and like a rental....See MoreBefore and after: A kitchen reno
Comments (5)The kitchen looks updated. But the concept of a dining table attached to an island, in my opinion, really limits movement in the room. You loose room for extra people to sit around a table, without entering the kitchen. Also the drinks fridge should be, in my opinion, on the living area side of island, so it is easily accessible without entering kitchen work space....See MoreNeed help for choice of Colour/ splashback for Kitch reno
Comments (4)The photos aren't the greatest , but the first thing I noticed is the ( I presume ) timber around the top . You probably spent mega $$$ on the benchtop , but it doesn't stand out to me . I'd personally try for a black/charcoal based splashback , with white and grey veins -- either one piece or tiles . The other option for me would be a slightly orange tinged brown stone tile , again with 'veins' , with white grout -- that is assuming you are keeping the wood substantially as it is , it would tie in ....See MoreKitchen Reno - Budget

Don't forget to number your doors so you know where they belong when you go to put them back. Use an undercoat. Don't skip steps. 2. Easily done and look for some online they can work out cheaper i.e facebook marketplace. If you keep the handle holes in existing cupboards make sure new ones fit or fill the holes before painting. 3. Don't paint it, that looks cheap and your going to touch it. They say "ready to use in 48 hours" No, no its not and its always dependant on the temp of your room. Replace it, should cost under $1000 for diy. If you want a trade add another $700 - $1800. They measure and order and cut and replace. It will take them less than an hour. It will take you maybe all day unless your pretty good already. 4. If you get a new benchtop (highly recommend) just get a new sink and make sure it will be suited for your sink cabinet. If you decide to keep the bench, you will have to get a sink in similar size. Make sure the tap sits over the sink and it is possible to do all this yourself. 5. Get stick on tiles as they can just sit on top and they aren't that thick. 6. Same with this, use stick on tiles for now. This is all quick fix and budget ways to update, how long it lasts is dependant on your use, your maintenance and the materials you use . i.e don't use cheap paint and follow after care instructions for all materials....See Moreralphierosey
