Deck yeah! Pick the best deck!

I have built a few decks in my time but seeing all the different types on Houzz I am having trouble thinking what is the best design out there.

So I made a list of my favourites and I want to see if all you people out there agree with me. Vote away!

Depends on where you live. A lap pool down a large deck gives the best of both worlds and provides a nice water feature for a deck. I need water to truly relax. Bigreader - where in FNQ did you live?

I would match the new timber to the colour of your gutter as it is attached to the house. The merbau decking is a great colour so I wouldn't do anything else but the stain in your photo. I can't see any concrete in your photos, and I would question whether it needs to be painted? Quite often painted concrete wears and needs repainting. If you can't live with the bare concrete consider a concrete treatment and imprint pattern where the colour is mixed in with the concrete and lasts forever. Hi friendly Kim. I've just looked at your profile to see if I could find your photos. I noticed you have them on a new post. I now understand, you already have a full alfresco area under the main roof, and vertical sun blinds, and also have noticed your fan, as you mentioned. The roof extractor fan may help remove the heat. I was also thinking if you had some tall lush plants along the side where the pull down blinds are. This would stop the sun, but allow the air through. But, sometimes we just have to move inside. This is why solar passive orientation of our new homes is so important. Hope you find a solution.

We have had the same dilemma with lighter multi colour bricks. We used an interior designer to help.... We painted large sheets of cardboard with colour and put them against the brick... Bought sample pots of colours as cheaper than making big mistake... Monument was recommended against our Sandstone & red/brown fleck bricks... No blue in sight. Other idea is to match a colour in your brick to draw out that colour as per the neighbourhood photo - take a brick to paint store to match. We will use red in brick as feature colour on garden walls.

Wow! That elevated deck is pretty special, so is the beach canopy (that view!...sigh). I do also like the fairy lights built into the deck, so cute. Great selection! :-)

My favourite is the Curved edges - Carpenter Street. It creates a sense of wonder, almost cocoon-like. I can't wait to get in there and experience it for myself. I also like Beach canopy - Cozy Outdoor Living Room - yes, the view, but also the way it makes me feel. How hot does the Summer Classics - Club Woven aluminium decking get? Looks great and low-maintenance.
