Need Ideas for Entry please:)
Comments (25)You need to add something dark, for contrast and "punctuation".. I agree with the others about painting the front door black (not gray) and would also paint the planter boxes, step, and sides of the porch black. Perhaps as well the window trim and even the eaves trough although I would want to see the roof color better to decide on that. Then some brightly coloured plants in the planters and maybe a small brightly painted stool or chair or small table to the side of the door on the porch area. These things would make the font of the house "sing" and add personality so the home stands out from others around it....See MoreGarden planting ideas
Comments (10)Our puppy (now 12months) digs and destroys our garden. She chews the vines/creepers (especially the stems) and the plastic trellis... She also loves to sit on an outdoor storage box (plastic brown wicker look from outdoor shops)... When I remember, we give her some toys (plastic bottles with dog biscuits inside with lid screwed back on, chicken wing inside frozen ice cream container of water, 'Kongs' with peanut butter inside, bones (uncooked) and lots of walks/exercise to tire them out. Chewing is a big thing with the development of their teeth/gums etc. I know I need to do more training with her too... (Yes - already she has 'us' well trained!) Hope you manage to enjoy both garden and dog....See Moreideas for plants???
Comments (0)We are using our isolation time to (finally!) finish our garden. we are looking for a plant idea for this garden bed pictured. from left to right plants are pink camellia.....empty gap (ideas please!) ....pink camellia....crepe myrtle...pink camellia....then a pencil pine edged with wild iris. looking for a bush/shrub for empty gap (where stack of pavers are at the moment) and also smaller bush/shrubs to go under Camilla and crepe myrtle...which are both waiting for a prune;) Garden bed faces west and gets all day sun. Live in NSW , where 40 degree summer days are fairly common, as is humidity....See MoreIdeas for plants and trees for my front yard please
Comments (10)Your site is far too exposed for Maples. They are small trees that really need to be buffered from winds and too much sun by other plantings. They also need the soil constantly moist which will be nearly impossible on that slope. You really don't want to grow magnolias anywhere near the footings of a house. Have you seen how large a tree they are? Since you are in a temperate zone and like autumn foliage I can recommend a gingko tree. It will be right sized for your yard and give you that similar lighter than air look and autumn colour as maples but it's more hardy. Another option are silver birches. I would hedge the boundary for privacy and also to cut down winds to your garden which will dry out the grass and scorch it. With that slope you are going to need more rocks I think to prevent your topsoil from washing away in the first rain. It's really no use of us to provide you a list of random plants. What you need to do is put together a series of photo's of gardens you like the look of, then find plants to match that style. If you don't plan gardens then you end up with the ubiquitous suburban patch of grass and odd bushes look instead of a lovely garden....See Moremazgardiner
