Need help redecorating master bedroom
Comments (34)Thanks everyone who offered advice. I've attached 2 pics of the almost finished project. Can't show the bed as the picture isn't up yet - my partner went to clean some mildew off the ceiling, didn't secure the A frame ladder and only wearing thongs almost severed his big toe when it collapsed underneath him. So a warning to all! Please don't get up ladders that have not been locked or wear unsafe footwear. The mirror and rug were from Gumtree and I made the curtains myself (thank you Spotlight for a sale on curtain fabric). We're very happy with the results (apart from the hospital visit involved). Statement light fitting also needed at some point....See MoreNeed advice on doing up a Bedroom!
Comments (14)Hi cindypaynter, If you would like to use more colour and introduce brightness into your bedroom below are some examples for you. Each one varies with the amount of bright colour in the space. You definitely should change the bed linen. That will have a major impact on the space. I'd would highly recommend to change the light fitting and possibly look at using wallpaper or simply paint the wall behind the bed, or introduce some artwork like the pictures below. Try to think more about the look and style that you want to achieve, and source things that will work with your overall idea. Also, a quick tip - don't forget about texture, especially in the bedroom! Best of luck for you project. If you can, show us your transformed bedroom when you're done :)...See More70's floor plan, need to move master bedroom!
Comments (12)Hi Lucy, Typical situation here. A couple of things, without going into full depth you need to distinguish and separate (a) project design from (b) project construction...... Firstly, these types of projects can be challenging/involved on a number of levels. But first things first, Firstly, you need a design solution. At a glance you seem to have plenty of existing space, BUT reconfiguration of internal spaces can translate into higher than anticipated cost. It comes down to your specific family needs and ultimately your budget. You need to define/clarify your specific requirements or work with a design professional who can help you establish the detail required in order to resolve a design solution for you. Invariably it comes down to money and balancing out your specific needs in context to ensure the solution is developed to budget. We offer services that deal with & manage this critical front end stage of a project. Secondly, issue with trades and getting people to come and quote etc.....very often, the issue is not that they don't want to do the job, BUT the job actually is not clearly defined or is confusing and may appear too small to bother. However, when you have a properly and professionally documented and defined project on paper then it is actually relatively straight forward to find a reputable builder who will quote the project properly. There are numerous operators setup for various scaled and type of project and sure it's about finding the right one and it's horses for courses. But first things first, without a clear plan of attack you'll be going around in circles getting nowhere - my guess is that you've been trying to work it out yourself and tried to speak to builder or random trades, before actually focusing on the most important aspect of a project, which is the design. You can't expect to pull those guys in and ask them "what do you reckon?" "can we do this" "how much will it cost to...".etc......builders and trades form the "back end"of the projects, they are not "designers" however people seem to often pull them in first, when rather they should be discussing the yet to be defined project with either a designer or an architect. I hope this brief comment helps. If you are interested in further professional assistance and comments please don't hesitate to contact me directly for further information. We can provide concise front end services that are structured to address exactly this type of situation and provide clarity and options for your project that are properly costed in context. You get this stuff sorted/freed up, you'll be able to progress forward efficiently with the process. Cheers PD :)...See MoreHelp needed restyling master bedroom
Comments (21)Hello Joyzzz, I'm not the best with this sort of thing: much better with plans! But I love the rug, bathroom window, plants and the stand and THAT VIEW!!! Do what ever you need to to enjoy it more often, for longer day or night and with good books, knitting, cuppa tea and Mozart!!! What about a unit that is the height of the structure of the window seat to go along the wall with TV on it: yes I see there is a vent to consider too...unit could have baskets for said knitting, DVD and Mozart CD's, teddy & other storage too. The TV would be just that bit higher, easier to see and have stack of books, vase of flowers hubby has bought for you, perfumes etc decoratively along it. Also place to put cuppa, knitting bag when on the day bed..... Then match bed sided tables to it and center the bed or have the left side table longer taking most of the space to the window wall. Again it can have flowers, cups of tea, books, whatever. Add three lamps: bed sides maybe hanging so as not to use the table space: cylinder shapes shades to match the ceiling lights but a tall base so one by TV is bringing more height to the TV area. As others have said lighter, subtle beachy colours in art, cushions, doona covers, taking in the colous of the mat and plants to tie it all together. Lets see what you come up with!! OH and leave plants where they are but add another on a stand so it is in the window light & near to TV!? Cheers Lucky you with a view and lovely room like that..... Margot...See Morelankastar
