Feature wall colour - did I get it wrong?
Comments (37)Sue, congratulations. You've not only identified a colour you feel happier about, you've actually created it. I suspect you'll now be able to create a pleasing mix of warm greys, plywood browns, stone tones, coppers or bronzes, warm whites, etc; maybe with a bit of yellow added come spring; and you'll be able to live with the brownish sofa until you're ready to update or reupholster. I have some KAS cushion covers from a couple of years ago which show how this kind of colour mix can be done. One has stylised flowers (a la Mexican) in grey, brown and caramel with a touch of burnt orange. (You mention liking ochre.). Another is lighter grey, brown, taupe and bone-white on a natural linen. A third (less subtle) is warm greens with brown, taupe, yellow, white and a little aqua. I'm not saying go for styles that are a few years out of fashion. But do be confident enough to resist a harsh, hard-edged option if a gentler one is right for your temperament and household and the room's aspect. Comments (17)What natural light do you get in the room/what orientation? i.e. is it a 'cold' or 'warm' room? If it's a colder room, I'd go with a grey with orange/red undertones to warm it up a bit, or if it's a warm room you could get away with a cooler grey, maybe green undertones to compliment the maroon. Or you could even try a green rather than grey. The Aerobus is a blueish grey so will be cooler. As others have said you would probably want a lighter tone than this for the walls (unless you're purposely going for a dark dramatic mood). 'Miller Mood' is a couple of shades up in the Colour Atlas. Get sample pots and paint a section on each wall, or paint a white bit of card and stick to the wall to see how the light is at different times of day....See Morelexicon 1/4 with grey feature wall
Comments (0)Hello everyone. Can someone help me out with an appropriate grey feature wall colour? We are currently doing a modern contemporary new build. After much deliberation, I’ve decided to go with lexicon 1/4 on the walls, ceilings, skirting, doors and architraves. Would love to do a subtle grey panelled feature wall in our lounge room and the master bed. I’m thinking tranquil retreat. Does anyone have anyone experience or photos with this? And has anyone done lexicon 1/4 for their walls with European oak parquetry flooring? I love a crisp, clean white but hoping it doesn’t look sterile when it all comes together.
