My house, built in 2003, has purple feature walls in the dining room and 2 bedrooms and green feature walls in 1 bedroom and 2 living areas. That was the fashion then. Recently I decided it's time for an update as the feature walls seem to be absorbing all the light and making the house very dark. So far I've undercoated 2 of the feature walls and what a difference it makes! The rooms are much lighter and now I have to decide on whether to add a lighter colour as feature walls or paint them the same colour as the rest of the room.

The blue is a great color. But why one wall. Accent walls almost always look like "accident walls." Changing wall colors chops up the room and makes it look smaller. Put some olive green with that wonderful blue. Your room needs a theme. The best way to create a theme is with a fabric that has your blue and other colors. The window placement is also off putting. I would center the bed under one of the windows and put a tall open headboard possibly iron on the bed. If you don'[t have room for night tables put a shelf or slender skirted table between the head of the bed and the window. you will be able to reach through the headboard to access alarm clocks books ect. see ganttsdecorating.com portfolio-before and after for that type of arrangement.. @ chookchook2 Very funny play on words! What about some of those lizards with suction caps on their feet...or frogs...although not mammals, still animals, they walk up vertical surfaces...and...just to make this light...in Charleville, Far Nth Qld. big green frogs live under the rims of toilets and.....yep, I screamed my lungs out when a couple attached themselves to my bare behind! I was the brunt of jokes at the pub for weeks! @ Luke Buckle....still copies of animal skins...what is it with people who need to have what I regard as a "trophy of the kill" on their wall or wear the skin...even if its imitation? Crocodile skin shoes? UGH. Fake Lepoard skin trim on boots...double UGH...Graphics of animal skins to stick on things? Still don't like the idea. Have a friend here at present...she likes the patterns and has a leopard skin patterned dress and a pair of boots.....I asked her what the attraction was....just the pattern, she loves animals, especially cats...but still there's this hunter thing....don't get it but each to his/her own. Glad I'm not married to a man who loves animal kill trophies..couldn't stand it. But then...I buy only leather shoes and I eat meat and love leather upholstered furniture...where do I think that comes from? MMMM Tis a puzzlement! Could never come at a real animal skin on the floor...but I like my lambswool underlay and my wooly sheepskin mat????? Double standard hypocrit? Pot calling the kettle?

I once picked what I thought was a soft orange red for our bed room. It turned out to be Home Depot orange. As my husband refuses to paint a room more often than every 5 years, we lived with that orange. At least I was mostly there with the lights out, and it did make our north facing bedroom more cheerful. But for some reason we found ourselves at Home Depot much more often then!
