Hi Karl, Blum do not make kitchens as you say but their designs include drawer carcasses where you can take your pick of a range of drawer fronts, not sure if this extends to doors. Issue for my glass want is their Aus range of fronts doesn't include the glass they offer in Europe. Im aware of the range of aluminium frames available but I'm after frameless, the look of frameless lightly frosted glass with a painted backing is pretty amazing, to my preference. I've chosen to use a glazier who does Splashbacks and glue thin hardened glass fronts onto precut doors. Seems like the attention needs to be laid to making sure the silicone and double sided tape don't react with the paint that would result in read-through, and laying the doors flat for adhesive curing

A few of your cabinet doors will need realignment, but painting it may make it look even more dated it depends on your colour selection. Definitely change out the handles and if budget permits change the bench top too. They are easy to install if you get laminate bench top. You could try for a two tone kitchen to test run your colour selection. I'm under the impression the current kitchen matches the rest of the house so if you paint either top or bottom cabinets first and test out if it suits lighting and overall scheme paint the rest.

$3000 for new doors sound like a bargain but if that doesn't include installation i would strongly recommend that you invest in professional installation (at a fixed price) as replacing old hinges can be very challenging for the inexperienced and we've patched a 40 year old kitchen with very thin sheets of melamine placed over damaged shelves, renewed sagging doors by filling up old screw holes and tightened hinges, replaced damaged edges using a roll of iron on edge stripping tape but, the minor damage on your edges and the backless cabinets could easily be disguised with some paint but i have say that our now patched kitchen was designed and built for an architect, various other kitchen we've built or renovated and my newest kitchen also custom made at very high cost have all been made out of a variation of a laminated board ..luckily you love the "very expensive to replace" counters but i would also consider investing in new kickboards to get rid of the quad edges around the floor and a better location for your microwave..and look forward to seeing your results
