Hi Elizabeth... I completely agree with Barbara regarding the photos... I think they would look lovely in a collage effect on one wall (arranged in a nice way of course), this would de-clutter the top of your bookcases/unit... With regarding to the book shelves... I would like to see them in a much lighter colour, obviously one that would compliment your other furnishings... maybe a similar/same colour to the walls, as this will help them to blend in more and not look too "in your face", just a thought... I would also like to see what they'd look like if you split them up.. eg: have the two book cases on one wall and the TV unit on another (if that is possible), with a gap in the corner to separate them... a tall lamp (not too decorative) would also look good in the corner and at night would illuminate the area to make the room look bigger :) I'd also love to see that gorgeous vase you have on the floor, near the lounge, up on a wall unit, as a feature, but with only a couple of other things accompanying it... you don't want to make the top of your units looks too busy again... but the vase is fairly high, so would make a nice feature to your room and as you already have similar colours in the room to match it, it would stand out a bit more... could be an option to try :) And one last thing, try putting the rug under your lounge, but sticking out the front of it... and maybe even turning it so that the long edge is hanging out under the lounge... this should also make your room look a bit bigger and a little bit lighter as it will show more of the lighter coloured carpet underneath... ddaroch i would be very pleased to draw up your suggestions but every site has individual restrictions and local microclimates and, reading back throughl Trent's comments, it clearly states that the estate doesn't allow the garage on the right/west of the block ... my last offering on 15/8 has more northern light, uses as much of the original design as possible and we have to work with what's available ...a recent addition to my own home deliberately has south west facing corner windows that provide garden views and winter sunshine (with suitable management for summer overheating)...without those windows we would have lost the best aspect of the available space and the room would be unusable ...we need to be less rigid with interpretation of Solar passive Design and be more creative with our compromises...and that's what professional designers should be able to provide

It’s actually porcelain. Love the look of marble but not the maintenance. Didn’t like the stone look alikes but think the porcelain looks very much like marble. Also better than stone as it can take high heat.
