Need help choosing a rug to match this multi-coloured fabric.
I have been searching 'madly' for 6 months trying to find the perfect rug to match this fabric of my new lounge. From a distance the lounge looks a bit like a pale taupe brown and the black in the fabric is less noticeable to my despair. I was thinking a rug in dark colour (mostly black- to enhance the black fleck) with taupe or cream highlight pattern to lift the colour of the lounge so it doesn't look so bland. A very light colour rug may not be practical due to high traffic area.
And then use cushions to add a colour & pattern and give it some contrast. Style for the room to be modern luxe with a moody glamour. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Comments (9)I have thought about some sort of white cabinetry too but could it look a little odd with the rest of the house, as the house is rustic? My second thought was maybe oak cabinets with a light granite bench top, which would be the safer but maybe not so modern? I really don't like the look of painted bricks. I have seen some very nice brick wall kitchens on Houzz but my kitchen seems to have more bricks then most and a lot of the kitchens in Houzz mix plaster in the room, which looks amazing but I can't do that. I have found a great fabricator for the granite. Comments (33)I had a 2nd hand lovely resort style lounge (cane with fabric) which quickly became pulled and tatty after my 2 small dogs had been using it. The leather lounge & two large leather recliners I have show no damage (regardless of long or clipped nails) and both pets love these. Comments (13)Agree with above comments - large rug, darker colours to balance the beige. And I also think the art work is too small and too high. However if you are attached to these pieces they could be hung together on one wall, lower, maybe re-framed in similar frames to give them cohesion (black to match your new cushions?). This would create the effect of a larger art piece. Our cabinet maker threw in the strip lighting. I thought it was a nice but unnecessary extra; something I wouldn’t have asked for. But like you, I’m so glad it’s there - no working in your shadow. It’s brilliant. An absolute must in any future kitchen reno now. The MW is good but a bit impatient - it beeps too much! We had a 20yr old Sharp carousel, so the new one was a bit of a tech leap. It‘s pretty easy to get used to. We use the combo function a lot, and the rice program does a great job. Wish it cleaned itself tho! Since seeing your fridge, I’ve been on alert every time ours makes a weird noise, hoping this is it - bang - ceased motor. New fridge! Keep us updated about your window coverings. I found this one which I didn't mind. It is very dark though however around $300 for 200 x 280.
- 8 years agoTemple and Webster have this leather and jute one on special. It's a bit lighter than the one above but very stylish.

I saw that one on ebay earlier. It comes in 2 colours. It has a lovely texture. This is the darker version. I'm glad I am on the rick track with the experts ;) Do these type of rugs need some sort of under to stop them slipping?

8 years agoWith that beautiful sofa you can go safe with neutrals or go crazy with colour, personally I would go colour.
