Wall art advice

I'd love some tips on wall art for my lounge and hallway. We plan to lay blackbutt timber floors eventually throughout the house and to update our furniture when we can afford it.
The lounge/dining wall is about 6.4m long - does the current print and clock look too small? Any other suggestions? Our couch is dark brown leather and the kitchen will be updated to be white when we renovate.
For hallway, I'm planning to put a large white timber mirror on the blank wall near front door - and eventually a table below (not yet as I have 2 young kids & double pram). To make it feel spacious, should a hallway have prints on both sides or should I leave lots of blank space? I'm unsure how to match art too - do I need to pick only one style for hallway or can I mix it up somehow?! It's a very long space to decorate. I'm also keen to keep costs down given we have a lot of renovations coming up this year.
Any advice is welcome

you could jazz it up by adding a couple more ceiling lights, at least your feature would be out of harms way, re "kids"

Comments (33)Hi. Yes, me too, number 3! Some really beautiful pieces of art being suggested. Wow, such vibrant colours. May I make a suggestion? Maybe it's just me, Terri, but try rearranging your rug so that it runs widest ACROSS the room, not lengthwise. It will fit under your furniture better, and although as much of it won't be showing, I think it may look better, given the size of the geometric pattern. Comments (11)oh that art over lounge is old & need to replace bc sick of looking at it. also can’t change placement of the clock as there is a bracket & dont want to patch & paint the wall. The other wall in dining room will only reflect another wall so not sure but im going to buy them first and play around with them as I’m a visual person. also what colour would you recommend I go? ideally I would love to change my curtainS but can’t afford to do so. & my rug but I have an old fur baby who at times has accidents so going to wait on that for now. Comments (11)Hi Carol , I hate the artwork but wonder if the colouring is way too little for the space haha ? Everything in your place is grey , beige , off-grey , off-beige , off-blue , and charcoal . So to add some excitement you get some art in grey , beige , off-grey , off-beige , off-blue and charcoal ! Three months ago I bought an original abstract picture about 1.2metres square -- a yacht under sail in heavy seas . Except it was all in brightish colours , the texture is literally knifed on . But straight away , your eyes are drawn to it , and you know exactly what it is . We know sails aren't really orange and yellow and apricot and butter -- but it portrays the fury ! The sails are actually heavy paper , screwed up , flattened , painted and glued to the canvas -- it is 3 dimensional ! I'm actually not a sailing person , but at $800 I grabbed it , and glad I did . It may not be your choice , but imagine just from my description , what something like that would add to your place . 7 years agoIn the long run the wall lights are stopping a large colourful painting. Perhaps downlights over the painting would be better.

7 years agoNot normally a fan of chandeliers, but this one from another post may fill up the volume of your room and add interest. Looks great in the image below.
