Ideas for exterior - brick mid-century built home
Comments (43)Australia has nice examples of painted and rendered Art Deco homes. If it was a different kind of brick I would say keep it, but I think painting/rendering would really brighten the place. I love the windows. Although all pics here don't exactly match your style, they are all of that era. As mentioned in above comments, there are mix of landscaping styles that suit from conifer/gravel/grass to cottage rose garden to an Australian native garden. Do what reflects you and how much time you have for your garden....See MoreBrick vs Hebel or something else?
Comments (5)we've done both: with the render finsh and painting the Hebel was more labour intensive, not cheaper than brick and the joints broke down after only two years It does provide good insulation but the same or better results can be achieved more efficiently...our next project will be reverse brick veneer with insulated Colorbond cladding..we concentrate on the shell of the building (roof, external walls, windows, doors and floors as the internal fittings can be added or upgraded over time...living without a proper kitchen for seven months allowed us to pay for better quality windows but you must plan to suit your climate and conditions, good luck...See MoreWeird external party wall
Comments (15)Thx, Initially I thought that is a balcony behind BED04s. The blade wall I think is to reduce overlooking towards the rear private open space, which is very much preferred. Looking at the frosted windows already installed, then I think this wall can be made redundant. Rule is as long as you can screen the view to clear window only on 1500mm height and above, then it should be ok. As this is already under construction, ask your certifier if this wall can be omitted. Otherwise, sadly you might need to apply for changes to DA (fees apply)...See MoreLooking for expert opinion on external colour scheme
