Furniture design and placement help please!
Comments (1)Hi, A good way to start is to draw a scaled floor plan of the space. When you see furniture that you like, you can then cut out; also to the same scale, the basic dimensions. This will make it easier to assess the foot traffic around the room and furniture layout. You may find a modular to big and limiting to layout. Maybe a sofa with 2 accent chairs (not necessarily matching) gives more possibilities. Also consider which direction the room is facing and what light it receives, this may also help with layout in terms of the TV, i.e will the sun shine making it hard to see the screen. Hope that helps....See Morefurniture placement and suggestions
Comments (4)oklouise's solution is the logical choice "depending on dimensional accuracy". However the dining width dimension looks inaccurate. I would seek clarification on what the dining dimensio ns are actually measuring. I would have assumed the width was from the front edge of the breakfast bar to the raised ceiling, which looks a lot less than 4 metres. Get your dimensions right before buying furniture! Comments (11)(overlapping posts but doesn't change suggestions especially need for locations of doors and windows) to make space for a 55" TV i would swap rooms and make a media room with a wall of cabinets to include the TV, music, books etc and have a roomier dining room with extra small lounge chairs that can be rearranged when you need seating for more than 4 to watch TV..the lounge could be a sofa bed with a storage coffee table for bedding but best size and placement of all furniture depends on measurements and you will use an accurate plan of the whole apartment (including exact size and location of all doors and windows for choosing furniture, floor and window coverings, appliances, built ins, kitchen cabinets etc etc so if you can make a rough plan showing the distance from the windows and doors to all corners i can make a more accurate plan for you...See MoreWhich wall is the best to install/place my tv unit and speakers?
Comments (28)HU-624382943's comment about speaker placement is important. As far as quality listening goes (whether you like listening to music seriously or want to enjoy fantastic sound when watching movies, you want the speakers on the narrow wall (pointing towards the set of paned windows), not on a long wall. The challenge, of course, will be to get them sufficiently spaced, since you have the bookcase on the right and the cupboard (with or without doors) on the left, as well as the door to the room itself. (That door looks uncomfortably close to the cupboard doors, incidentally.) Unless you choose to suspend your directional speakers from the ceiling – which could be an option – you'll probably be limited to the width of that central section of wall, i.e. immediately to each side of the TV....See MoreMel McAndrew
