I like printed glass, yes I do, but most of what we are show is pretty naf, sorry to sound like a slone ranger, I investigated the product, I had a few different areas I could have used it in this current build, with good design choice (possible) and reasonable price not possible the quotes where all a joke. I have defaulted to either depending on ,thought ,placement, nothing ,or tile, Its a bit like my wood stove hearth,I wanted glass to show the Tasoak floor beneath, I was various laughed and accused of bringing European habits (sounded dirty) I solved the issue but if you live in the pimple on the bottom of the world, design is not an option, costs get too high, availability is a joke, I feel like offering up my rather posh shed (and accent) to companies who want to try the Tassie Market (for a modest fee of course) we are five mins to the airport and I have a background in Finance and design (weird) combo, but I studied art the market was to tight so I turned to banking for my crust.

Printed photos, in albums or out of them have the tactile quality of "real" irrespective of when they were taken, yesterday or yesteryear. I don't think we will lose that for a few generations yet, if ever. Real (as opposed to 'virtual') albums can be made very specific and/or personalised as opposed to searching a computer, phone or tablet for a folder that has probably everything you shot on a given occasion - searching, searching, searching... Have you ever watched someone searching a computer and trying to make their logic fit their perception of what they are looking for? A real album has a cover, often titled or at least distinctive from others and making that cover or making it distinctive becomes part of its charm. Older photos you may have scanned have their own unique built-in colour too so (e.g. old film) that can bring some retro charm into the exercise, a patina that often relates to time and place - digital files are anonymous until opened, so it's printed for me, unless you are able to find a good digital photo frame. The first image could be something you create as a virtual album cover, a nice little challenge.

Thank you for al your suggestions: Our budget is around $30K not sure how realistic that is - haven't had any quotes yet. I'm thinking if I don't need to change windows it might help cut costs a bit. My inspriation kitchen is a HedgersConstructions HOme that was featured on Grand Designs in Glen Waverly Waimarie..way out of our budget but I love the quirkiness of the design - the coffee nook, the large island bench, ...the colours....love it. OKLouise : I quite like your idea - although not sure about the seating nook and smaller linen cupboards? The current dining window is floor to ceiling. Kate - I forgot to mention I love the windows and view in that corner so am trying to avoid taking putting a corner pantry in there but I can see why you've gone that route - it seems obvious to do that. I've thought about making space for a kitchen pantry somehow by using the dining space. As it's a sunken room I would need to consider raising the floor for so that the kitchen/family room would all be on one level. NOt sure?? Yes the current dining room is quite long and has 2 doorways either side so it loses practical usable space. Siriuskey & CP: Here's the whole house plan. The outside entertaining area is accessed via the steps next to the meals area. 3DA Design Drafting & 3D visuals - does tha plan put the family room where the dining room currently is? The rumpus room downstairs has evolved over the years as our kids have grown up, left home and returned with partners! Not sure what to do with it long term but it's a big space with lots of potential. At the moment it's been transformed into a bedsitter kind of apartment space for adult children between homes - so any suggestions on how we could transform the space long term there would also be greatly appreciated. .
