I assume you mean lighting under the overhead cabinets to shine on the bench top. Nothing wrong with it just need to find lights that will fit. O/H cabinets don't usually have space for wiring, etc.. Talk to the kitchen manufacturer initially then proceed from there. 5 or 4 burner? Depends on your cooking! We use our 5 burners all the time as we boil vege's, pasta, etc. along with the frying pan. But our 900mm oven gets used rarely. At best once a week for a roast, cook a cake....... AGA's look awesome but expensive. Mum and dad still use their wood burning 'wet back' combustion stove and oven and have done so since 1971. It's not an AGA but some Aussie brand that is as good as new. Rather going for bling and 'keeping up with the Jones', go for a quality practical kitchen layout with quality appliances you'll use regularly and will not date. I see so many under used kitchens that are 'showroom' in condition and size.....

thanks Georgi02 I thought of the laundry incorporated in the bathroom or kitchen as you suggest but I want study nook and thought the two could go together hence the study/laundry space. I suppose it could go next to the fridge? But then I don't get a broom cupboard and study. After the comments here, I'm thinking maybe a U shape will be better because I can shrink the length of it I think from 3000 to 2600 which will give me more room in the dining and maybe it won't look as pokey as with the island. A question about the bathroom, would you put a vanity across the whole width and a narrow window above the mirror or have as shown , a large window to one side and therefore a smaller mirror above the vanity?

there are so many options, I would need to see the rest of the layout. eg what does this area open up to? in which direction? what is the door next to the fridge? does it lead to a room or a butlers pantry or just a walk in pantry? If you could have a butlers pantry then you could eliminate some of the cupboards in the kitchen area and open it up so aesthetically it looks bigger, more open. Then your butlers pantry will need to be fitted out with cabinetry in order to make up for the space. It also depends on how much cooking you actually do, speaking form experience and having a kitchen layout same as yours above; all the cupboards above on either side of my cook top have gone yellow and are no longer white and glossy. Yes, I have 2 pack and they assured me this wouldn't happen but being someone who cooks 6 out of the 7 days that's what happens. I too have the same sss range hood and that is continually dirty from all the steam, oil etc. The people who did my splash back made a mistake and did not take it all the way up, so that area between the cupboards, where your range hood stands, the wall is continuously dirty from the steam and oil and very hard to get up there and wash it all the time. If I were to design again, I would put in a range hood that is double the size of your cooking area, so that the cupboards are well away from all the cooking. Then again if you don't cook continuously then you shouldn't have a problem. If you have the room and you are able to extend the cupboards along that wall that your cook top is on, that's where you could put a double cupboard with long glass doors that sit on your bench top for display of nice glassware etc. The glass display cupboards give an elegant finish to the kitchen. The other option is that I have been involved in some kitchens (this is if you have the money) that install a sink, cook top and oven in the butlers pantry. This way all the prep work is done out of sight. So when entertaining your kitchen will be clean and tidy, no body sees all the dirty prep work and the oven, cook top and sink in the kitchen are for only warming things and small tidy ups.

New measurements are Dinning L2.97x w4.13, Kitchen L3.21x4.01, Meals L4.75 x 3.5, circulation space (Entrance stair) L3.1 x 2.05, Living L 6.58 x 3.7. I’m unsure how to use the lounge and Circulation space (entry from stairs). I’ve taken the picture of the existing lounge and circulation space. I thought I was asking too many questions and as people are very generous with their time and responses. Do you have suggestions for lounge and circulation space? With new plans I feel circulation space will be wasted or not used. Proposed pantry on the overall plan is not to scale. After researching plans in the Houzz I liked your (oklouise ) clever design for your pantry. Your pantry L1.6 x 1.4 but I had room for more so extended length 3.7 this figures can adjusted. On the kitchen plans above the sink number (20)is a window which is 1.80 x .96. bigreader we have no cladding or infill. Thanks for the suggestion of painting the classing/ bricks. The window we are going to remove in Meals is 1.80 x 1.48. I have taken a picture of the outside wall where the window is going to be removed (upper left). Thanks kate for for your suggestion for pantry and island. The pantry may block the entrance of the stairs. I like the idea of a splash back window but I feel this might blow the budget.
