Hi Nicole - great post. We are just about to lay these tiles as our splash back too, and deciding on grout colour. Have you been happy with the white in terms of staining/cleaning? Did you use an epoxy grout or standard? Many thanks.

I think you made a great choice. The detailed pattern on the subway tiles would've been lost with the dark grout.

Ellie, we used epoxy grout in our bathroom DIY tiling. I'm no expert but I would be wary about it being used with such a finely textured tile. We found you have to be really quick and thorough to clean it off the surface of the tile. I've since noticed a few spots on the floor tile (has some texture to reduce slip). If you go down this track make sure your tiler is 100% on board with it.

Ellie, sorry just saw this post now! I am very happy with white! - there is already so much detail in the tile already :) I am very happy! I sealed the grout myself with some spray purchased from Beaumont. I am very cautious when cooking and making sure I wipe spills straight away!! no staining as yet. ! would love to see the whole pic of your kitchen with bench top etc once youre done! no epoxy, just normal

Thanks Nicole!! We actually went for white grout too in the end, and stacked them (mid century modern house, we thought it fitted better overall). I agreed with you that I wanted the detail of the tile to shine, not the shape of the tile. We still need to paint the rest of the room, etc., but I'm pleased. We had them sealed and used a supposedly more stain resistant grout (Davco Colour Elite). We loved the designs so much we put the 150mm blue jeans version in our pantry!! Thanks again for your reply. Janehunt77, I know this is an old post, but could you tell me Rdge colour and brand of your timber lookcabinets in your photo here. I am trying to get a melamine that goes well with the mid century vibe but doesn’t throw Ora ge. It will be with white, grey and black in a bathroom.

A restaurant that I went to had what tile , with black grout, the black defined the lines so much it showed every fault.
It looked up down and all over the place. It put me completely off darker grouts. Perhaps it was just badly executed. Just thinking the tile should be the feature not the grout. But I’m not professional.
