How do I soundproof / insulate my apartment floor?
Comments (3)Unfortunately sound travels through structure as well as air. In fact sometimes better through structure depending on the frequency. We have used a product called Regupol which is a recycled rubber mat product that has great sound deadening qualities. However in your situation the existing floor boards would need to be removed, a thin sheet of ply laid down and then the Regupol placed on the ply before relaying your existing floor boards. this would give separation from the floor joists and your floor boards. Filling the cavity with an insulation type product or egg creates will not give you the desired affect. Have a look here http://www.regupol.com.au/au/...See MoreWhat colour should I paint my new home?
Comments (15)Hi Sue, I think the wall colour (white looks like an white/off white) is lovely. It’s neutral and light, and will be the best back drop for any soft furnishings. I would suggest maybe updating some of your furniture. Your sofas look in good condition, so re-upholstering to change the colour may be a expensive option. in a bid to save some money, perhaps updating your rug to a lighter/more neutral pattern/colour (look at armadillo rugs) is a better option. Also updating your dining setting (perhaps something with chair upholstery to compliment the sofa, and even a large light coloured marble top) to be more contemporary and in keeping with your lounge suite would be the way to go. My clients often find it difficult to part with certain pieces that hold sentimental value, but often a new home requires a furniture update. In summary, I’m not convinced changing wall colour will be able to link all your furniture together. Stick with one piece that works well (ie. the sofa) and work towards updating the rest. Good luck!...See MoreI would love to get ideas about my kitchen layout
Comments (39)I took into consideration your new Fridge pantry alcove when I designed your kitchen to get you the max island and still being well placed within the kitchen. If the island isn't attached to the fridge wall you would need to leave a 1m space between them which would reduce the 3m Island as I have shown, the dotted wall shows the length of your kitchen, and how the island fits into that space, you could extend the island further into the dining if you wanted, I can redraw that for you. As I said with both of your plans drawn differently Both OKL and myself had a differnt result...See MoreHow do I render my '90s apricot brick house?
Comments (8)The three things I like are the bricks , the tiles , and the overall style and even 'class' of the place . What I dislike is the yellowy beige ( in fact it has a pink tinge in some lights ) -- shocking haha ! And likewise that blue doesn't suit . For a starter , I'd do everything ( yes , the fence and pillars and caps -- everything ) that is beigey in a crisper white . The blue probably depends on your preference -- a darker almost royal blue may look okay , similarly so may a charcoal ( remember , the sharp white will contrast , and bring out the brick and tile tones too ) . Even a nice orange -- citrus doesn't suit the house style , but apricot is too wimpy against the bricks IMO ) . Fresh and crisp and clean with a sense of style ....See MoreBetty Weaver
