White paint that doesn't throw blue
Comments (14)Thanks @mcmahonandnerlich for your considered response! Yours is about the only positive feedback I've had for Vivid White!! I love the cleanness of the test areas we've done but am a bit nervous that we might find it too clinical. Also a bit concerned our bedroom may dazzle our socks off as it will get afternoon sun in winter! Can you allay my fears?! And are you at all familiar with Snowy Mountains Quarter? It has a smidge of black and ochre in it, so is a tad warmer but not as warm as Natural White. Finally, do I need to be worried about the impact of our charcoal polished concrete and charcoal carpet on the final paint choice? If the paint has any black in it will the dark floors bring it out in the paint? Sorry to bombard you but your comments were so apt ... Thanks in advance!...See MoreHelp with a very pink bathroom!
Comments (53)Yes I agree not to paint or add an faux type treatments as over time they will deteriorate and the bathroom will look tacky. My suggestion would be to hang two large rectangular framed photos. Use a light gold colour for the frame and almost silver looking one but you can just see the gold. Keep the framed photos light and classical, not to busy. On the vanity add a tray the same colour as the photo framed or with a mirrored look. Use white fluffy towels and a Scandinavian style light colour timber towel rack. Possibly a gold colour pot containing a leafy green plant. Comments (8)as always depends on budget but i'm wondering if a steep gable roof at right angles to the main roof with a raked ceiling and solar roof vents would allow better ventilation with enough headroom for a ceiling fan and adding some panels of transluscent insulated polycarbonate closer to the house would help avoid the overshading ...we've used a diy double layered polycarbonate and there are insulating products available eg Arcpanel and, to improve light inside the house (or under a dark alfresco roof) consider Solar Skylights (not hole in the roof) like Arcol or illume brand that we use with excellent results for a modest investment, DIY installation and no risk of roof leaks...See MoreHow do I render my '90s apricot brick house?
Comments (8)The three things I like are the bricks , the tiles , and the overall style and even 'class' of the place . What I dislike is the yellowy beige ( in fact it has a pink tinge in some lights ) -- shocking haha ! And likewise that blue doesn't suit . For a starter , I'd do everything ( yes , the fence and pillars and caps -- everything ) that is beigey in a crisper white . The blue probably depends on your preference -- a darker almost royal blue may look okay , similarly so may a charcoal ( remember , the sharp white will contrast , and bring out the brick and tile tones too ) . Even a nice orange -- citrus doesn't suit the house style , but apricot is too wimpy against the bricks IMO ) . Fresh and crisp and clean with a sense of style ....See MoreBetty Weaver
