Change the hand rail to something slimmer. Add a floating ceiling either using plaster board or timber. Add a outdoor heater, either down lights or rail lights. Add a fan for cooling and air movement, privacy screen between you and your neighbors so either new fencing or (in big pots or a bed) a green screen. Golden palms and bamboo are great to use and don't need much maintenance.

always best to add insulation during construction but another option for an existing room is to install the insulation bats underneath and then add a corrugated iron ceiling...not much fun to do the job from below but the finished appearance is gorgeous and the condensation and overheating eliminated

we wanted to insulate our verandah roof as well as allowing light through lazerlite panels so we lined under the verandah with corrugated zincaluume with blanket insulation and then put corrugated lazerlite under the lazerlite panels: a double layer of lazerlite and a neat ceiling and looks fabulous

Looking at the first below I'd say, to be on the safe side, the bedhead should show half to three quarters above your tallest pillow. The second photo I believe shows too much bedhead.
