Matching Timber Dining Chairs and Sofas...

We are setting up our first home and recently purchased these lovely white dining chairs with beige upholstery to match our white baroque dining table (we are fans of the provincial look), but are now unsure of which sofas we should be looking for to tie in with our developing colour/style scheme. We are considering purchasing a set of grandfather or Louis XV sofas, the upholstered style with timber frames, however we aren't sure which colour timber to go for. We would like to stay away from white as we already have plenty of this colour in the house (including architraves and skirtings), and would prefer a dark mahogany timber to achieve a formal style lounge, perhaps with a light upholstery to match the chairs. Will this work? Or would we be wiser to opt for a lighter timber, such as weathered oak? Any advice is welcome!
