We are building a house on a steep block and so the design has the garage and house about 1.5m from the footpath. The rear wall of the garage is on the boundary. The street is quite steep and at street level, it levels out on the garage side of the boundary. The views to the rear of the house are quite spectacular and look down to the river.
I am in a dilemma as to the mix of render and stone on the front facade. We have found a red travertine tile with veins in it which is quite striking - but am unsure as to whether it is too strong to use on all or parts of the front facade/s or whether we just use it as the verandah floor tile.
Our preference for the rest of the external walls of the house is a light grey or off white to blend in with the Basalt roof and fascias with the windows and doors being in pure white. I am thinking a basalt or off white/grey garage door.
With the front of the garage being so close to the pavement, our landscaping options are small hedges, pencil pines etc.
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
