Can you do a rough lay, just put a few tiles down one way, from where you can see them from the front door. Not stuck of course. Photograph the look, then replace them the other way, photograph and then compare the looks. This would give you an idea then of which way looks best.

Hi Jen and everyone else who has made a comment. You always need to consider your personal use in a space, if there is a lot of water involved tiles a definitely the best choice. Timber look alike tiles just like the Hampton style is a bit fashionable at present like many things were before. What is really important is to really love what you select or what someone may select for you. If you love the selections then they will work for you for many years to come and if they are proportionately correct and balanced and not clashing with other choices; suiting your climatic and general environment and effectively in harmony with there surrounds then these choices will work for others too down the track. Poor choices and poor design which is not well thought through is really the true reason for why things seem date or they just do not work. So all in all Jen timber tiles may be the best choice based on what you have told us about your space.

I agree with Paul. In this case I probably would have used the white tile you have used on the other two walls for the far wall as well. Because this is a smaller sized bathroom, the back wall now seems closer, whereas if you kept up with the white it would have made the room feel bigger. You've done well with the placement of fixtures though, it's always a tough job when a bathroom doesn't give you much space. - Jenna

We're thinking of tiling a large expanse out to the deck with tiles that look like wood. Has anyone got photos of large expanses done this way, with the indoor tiles matching the outside tiles? Some tiles grooved quite deeply and wondering how the cleaning goes? Who's happy and whose regretful using wood look alike tiles? Thanks all, Kim
