Using different strengths meaning you can have the colour but it isn't as dark. this allows you to use a couple of strengths also depending on your lighting too - in some instances looks like same colour throughout but in actual fact it isn't due to the lighting. I used a couple of strengths to define rooms but it doesn't look like patchwork. You need the paint company to make up the paint - don't thin it half strength (if that's what you are thinking). Paint companies have colour swatches usually with 2 or 3 strengths - especially Dulux usually show full, half & quarter strengths on their swatches and then you can obtain a slighter bigger one with only 1 colour.

The style of your home stems from the gothic style in the 70's, 1570 to be more exact. The gothic period lasted from around 1485-1603. The Gothic Revival style started in England in the late 19th century. I suggest searching images of Gothic buildings built during the Gothic period to see if there are materials that you like. If you can't find any, search for images of Gothic revival buildings for examples of materials that you think will work. If that doesn't work, then the next comment may be of some help.

Hi 1991_kid, though this image may be a render, the stone tops do represent an actual material. You may like to look at the Natural Stone type called Quartzite. Quartzite comes in smaller slab sized that Granite and Man Made Quartz Reconstituted stone slabs and it is very hard (unlike marble) and comes in a variety of different colours. Quartzite stone slabs do come in various types of Grey and does come in a type that has a formation which looks similar to your image. Perhaps something like the Atlantic Stone Quartzite or the Taj Mahal Quartzite or the Grey Cristallo Extra Quartzite. Hope this is of help, Malcolm
