stone or laminex bench top? pros and cons of each please
Comments (11)Hi Carmel, I'm not a architect and I do value everyone's professional opinion, but can't help thinking that perhaps you and your husband are both right. The breakfast table would look great in a natural stone, it is the where you eat, have tea or wine on, maybe a small project, entertain or have a fork fight on. Choose a granite or marble that's going to tie in with the splash back and your lovely timber floors and go with a wow factor like a stand out vein or run of colour in it. Makes it interesting. As for the rest a dark or even black solid surface or laminate is ideal. I find them soft and touchable, easy to maintain, a pleasure to work on and it adds the extra modern elements that's missing from this lovely galley style kitchen. Corian is another brand of solid surface but a textured dark laminate from A reputable laminate supplier should do it too. Make this room an energy that you want to be in not just look great. Comments (14)Laminex and Dulux got together and have colour matched their white palettes. For example Dulux snowy mountains quarter matches the Laminex. White Linen. The lexicon Dulux paint goes with polar white Laminex. Go onto the Laminex web site and check out the colours. We did a kitchen in Laminex Polar White silk finish, the Chalkstone tops and Lexicon quarter paint with a grey oak flooring and Kit Kat tiles which worked well....See Morekitchen laminex combination
Comments (1)Hi Angie, from a colour palate perspective your selections all work well together. I don't think you should be concerned about having too much going on; it is still very popular to use the Scandi Style; having a combination of a Light solid colour and woodgrain finishes within a kitchen design like this. From a practical perspective, I would personally use the Essastone Calcite on the Island Bench instead of the Avignon Walnut laminate because this is a much harder wearing and longer lasting material for this work surface and perhaps swap the Avignon Walnut to the Island Cabinet faces instead. Hope this is of some help, regards Malcolm....See MoreAny pictures with Fox teakwood laminex cabinets ???
