Tiles are cold (unless you have underfloor heating) and hard, basically pretty unforgiving on your feet and legs or if you drop something. Timber is warmer, both to touch and visually, and more forgiving. Prices can vary hugely depending on your choice of tiles, timber and finish.
Depending on the tile you choose (rectified or not)- grout can get very dirty, yes it is hard and everything you drop will break and it can be cold in Winter (lovely in Summer). Timber is classic and warmer to walk on, 50% of things you drop will break (I'm being conservative- in terms of hardness there isn't a huge difference)....biggest drawback of timber is scratching- what people walk into your home, moving furniture, kids pushing toys around on floors, animal claws.
