Comments (20)Congrats, great potential. I agree that a grey like limed white would be great on the walls. The ceilings look lower than some 60s houses and painting both ceiling and walls in the one colour or 1/4 strength can accentuate the height of the rooms. White trim on the skirts and door frames are not too bland but those windows may look better framed with a darker trim. This colour palate will be a great canvas for you to add colour and texture that you indicated you like in furniture, baskets, throws etc. Suggest sticking to painting pre move in and once you've lived there a while you will know what you/house needs. Comments (56)Ive had a really busy 4 days & have been totally warn out, sorry for the lack of communication. We are changing the plan to have the roofline open up at the back like the latest pic posted by dreamer, but to also open up at the front for a patio entrance. Doing things this way gives us the high/raked ceilings in the kitchen/living/dining rather than stepping the whole area down. As for the design of the ensuite, kids bathroom, laundry, pantry, spare toilet & mudroom..... We've had a chat about it & have made a few changes. We have spoken with the 'architect' & he is drawing it up with the changes that we are happy with😊 Thank you all so much for you opinions & help, its been very much appreciated & has helped us get to a point that we are very happy with the design now, couldnt have done it without you guys💚💙 When the shed gets built we will have a granny flat setup in one end of it for the older kids or visitors so that will work out for us now too....See MoreHelp with a kitchen design for our new house
Comments (114)Ground floor we are thinking of going with this one. I am not worried about northern sun now, as with our landscape it is bit hard to try another shape and we feel like this layout of kitchen/dining/living gives us the most usable space. We might put a tall window above the kitchen bench instead of an overhead to get more light in. I have added a hall way table at the entrance, A bigger study/office, Linen/broom/storage space, laundry has external access. For the First floor we are leaning towards this one, which gives more space and big robes in bed2 and bed 3, also a WIR for his&her. 1800mm vanity, walkin shower and bathtub, a small balcony enough to put chairs and a small coffee table, we may make the balcony a little bigger as the master bedroom is now 4x4.7m. What we think is with this configuration 3/4 people can use the family bathroom area at the same time. I am not much worried about the bed orientation, this configuration work for us, anyone buying, its big bedrooms, they can put it anyway they like. Thanks to all specially to @oklouise and @differentways who went above and beyond to draw the designs for me, we wouldve put the toilet at the bath with window as differentways. suggested, but. then its too messy with robes and bedrooms get small., We dont want any robes sticking out, a wall to wall robe will give that luxury feel. We also like @dreamer ensuite design but again i think this one gives a different feel, something out of the box, what we usually see like in hotels. Also thanks to @macyjean & @Kate some of your advices were very valid and got us rethinking a lot of stuff. And thanks to all the others who spend there time looking at the design and reading the long messages and giving there much valuable opinions, every little suggestions are important. I know its not finished yet but we are almost there, if there is anything to improve or if i miss anything please let me know. We really value your thoughts and suggestions. We are very happy this turned out this way....See MoreNeeding design Help for Remodel of 90s brick home
Comments (4)I'm thinking similar to me me -- if you swapped the kitchen and dining , basically the dining chairs and even table can become part of the family room ( looks a lot bigger too , but the downside is you have to clean everything come mealtime -- probably not a bad habit to get into anyway ) . The kitchen could then be walled off from the lounge presumably , or able to view each other if that suits your lifestyle -- it gets a good view and light from the patio , maybe even a servery ? One slight further option if you really wanted , would be ( as above ) swap kitchen and dining , BUT remove the 'foyer' wall , including that linen and fridge space , and have the dining table near the entrance door . Personally , not what I'd do , but it does add more space , particularly to the Family room ( check as far as load bearing walls etc before you even considered this option ) -- there are some advantages , but some slightly strange ones too . Might make you think of options ?...See More- 7 years ago
