collect a bunch of people to sit on the lounge for regular movie nights and hopefully the extra wear and tear will soften the lounge to feel more comfortable, a gorgeous floor rug, artwork and indoor plants should help and is there space for at least one comfortable lounge chair for you to sit in comfort facing the new lounge?

given it was costly and custom made, I would politely approach the company you purchased it from and discuss where it has not met your needs/expectations. Give them an opportunity to make suggestions on what may be able to be altered. As long as you are reasonable and not ranting, I'm sure they will at least be willingly listen and attempt to satisfy you where possible.

Brand new sofas will usually take a few months to wear in - the foam will soften up with a bit of usage. If the seat cushions are removable you can try gently "folding" them in half to start the softening, or use it more than normally, as oklouise suggested.
I also second scottevie's suggestion to contact the retailer to discuss your concerns.

Thank you everyone for responding. As u have all suggested it may soften up over time & become 'comfy'. We did go back to the manufacturer & they were quite understanding however the customising was based upon one of their showroom lounges in a cosy fabric which was perfect for a large area. We then adapted it to suit our smaller area with leather - just not the same look or feel. The cushioning & seating sizes were reduced to fit! It really was our own fault. We have added a lovely cow hide on the floor & a couple of plants have been added but maybe the suggestion of some art work may soften the look, even further with a single chair. I'm sure in time you will adjust and get use to living with it. Comfort wise it will wear in and appearance wise you will get use to seeing it, in the space. When you put something new in a space particularly a dominate piece like a lounge your eye is immediately drawn to it and it can be overwhelming if the space has been empty or occupied by something smaller for a long time.

i know how your feeling and it is a feeling of "of oh god what have I bought, a monster ?"

In time believe me, you will get use to it, you will wear to it as will the lounge. Don't be to hard on your self......

Agree - the Indian rug was a purchase when we went to Jaipur in Rajasthan, India & is a bit special. I do agree that it doesn't quite work. It actually goes, I think, with another lounge, a dark brown leather one, we have in the family room. A bit of a 'miss-mash' of a room really.

Jakkiea777, the lounge is a lovely shape and fits the room well, it also looks very comfy (so hopefully will be as it wears in). I think the biggest challenge is finding colours to blend in with the stone and also with your floor colour, although it looks as though it blends with your wall colour. I agree remove the ottoman for now as there is already enough of that colour in the room. Perhaps add a lovely green plant in a big pot in its place. Have you considered neutral colours such as grey or even white cushions, rug, to blend it all in? Maybe abit of green as well? Love to see pics as you work out what works, I can see the room coming together beautifully.

I would consider removing your coffee table and replacing it with the ottoman. Put any coffee table essentials on a tray. You might find the couch more comfortable to relax on if you can pop your feet up on the ottoman? I agree with above comments about fewer, cosier and perhaps textured scatter cushions. I imagine too many would just slip around on the leather and get annoying. Would the brown sofa be in a walk way if it was turned at right angles?

Ps. Does your sofa have a buttery tone to it versus grey/white? You mention it's a stone colour but it does look slightly yellow in tone in your photos, may help to clarify. :-)

This is a closer snap of the colour - good idea about taking away the coffee table & replacing it with the ottoman. The ottoman came with the suite. The brown leather lounge if moved would clog up a walk way (coffee table & brown leather lounge from a 'returning son'). I think once the coffee table is removed & replaced with the ottoman & another plant added, plus art work & a rethink of the cushions, I think it would work better. I guess I just need to start sitting in it too :)

The retailer did advise us. The lounge in the showroom was completely lost when it was customised to accommodate for our smaller family room. All seating & back cushions had to be reduced in size. We had been looking for about 3 months and I guess we were a bit over it - we thought the customisation would still work.
