Help with main bedroom / WIR / ensuite floorplan please
Comments (12)Thank you so much for your comments and great ideas kiwimills , Pleased to Bijou Design , Leeder Interiors and oklouise . I agree with the door at the end of the bed being a better and more convenient position. Originally I had not included it there to access some of the light from the other window (obscure glass slider), and to avoid the feng shui coffin position with feet facing the door. On further reading I might be able to remedy it with a tall solid bed-end and blanket box/bench. I can see how walking through the WIR each time would be a pain. An alternate ensuite plan (below) as also suggested by Leeder Interiors. I wasn't sure if I had enough room for this... it would get me a larger vanity 1200+ rather than 900. Not sure however what: the recommended distances from the vanity front and toilet should be ? minimum width i need to have for the toilet space (between the wall and slider opening) ? If not, the extra bench space over the cistern also sounds like a good idea. Thank you...See MoreHelp on converting 2 bedrooms into 1 master bedroom with nice ensuite
Comments (5)my suggestion has an ens and wiw and uses the old bedroom door for a linen cupboard, although the toilet could be placed at either end to be closer to the original sewerage, this arrangement allows for more privacy for the toilet, more standing room near the shower, wall space for a towel rail and room in teh wiw for a chest of drawers..the vanity is over 2m long with cabinet under the (one or twin) sinks and open shelves next to the toilet for towels .. and, while you're adding the new ens, it would be worthwhile to plan the new access to the kitchen and new laundry...See MoreMaster bedroom/ensuite/WIR floor plan help!
Comments (14)One question i have with your design Oklouise is whether the sloped ceiling will look odd in bed 2? The house is an old queenslander and bed 2 was originally the lounge room, with two sets of french doors opening on to an enclosed veranda. We are opening up the front veranda but not the side one (because that would limit the floor space we have available to build in downstairs). The "reading/playroom" was kept separate to the bedroom because that space has a steep sloped ceiling and a set of french doors opening on to it so we thought it looked like a separate space. If we remove the french doors and knock down the wall, do you think the bedroom will feel strange? We would like to keep the set of french doors opening on to the verandah at the front of the room....See MoreMaster bedroom, ensuite and WIR robe ideas
Comments (38)What is the wall going out from the laundry, is there another room? Going up into the roof space is a great way to add extra room/s if the pitch is high enough, perhaps your son inlaw could get up there with a tape. We did this some years ago in our Federation house and ended up with 2 bedrooms with a study break out area across the end of both rooms which had QBs. Our builder pre ordered the stairs which were installed in one piece, this was quick and once the stairs were in place they could then proceed to fit out the space. Your wide passage could be where these stairs would fit....See MoreMalcolm Jackson
