Square open plan living help

Help! i have recently purchased a new property & the open living is located in the middle of the house with doors coming off it & can be viewed as you walk in the front door.
I'm having alot of trouble trying to work out what I can put where. I would like a dining table, couch (s) and small desk in the space (probably on the back wall as that's where the internet point is).
please note that the measurements aren't correct. thanks!

how do you use the rumpus room would the desk and dining area be too far away in there?

i would place the dining table in the living& meals area and then the couch and desk in rumpus perhaps

Hello Kathy, what beautiful floors you have.....too lovely to totally cover. I think you're on the right track using two large rugs which will delineate the two usage areas but still show off a bit of that pretty timber. If you can make the rugs big enough to allow a nonslip path for your dog, so much the better. lhh

If the roof in the sunroom is also flat on the exterior part of the roof then perhaps put triangular windows in the top part of the wall that would look straight outside and then keep the sunroom ceiling flat. You wont notice its different as the window to the outside will be the feature of that wall.

the wooden floor makes it so much easier to consider moving plumbing and i'm wondering if moving the kitchen next to the laundry has been considered to enhance the indoor outdoor feel with a servery window and use the old kitchen meals area as a sitting tv area (with or without a means of closing off the area) and square up rumpus room and include the old entry to enlarge rumpus and create a new entry more centred along the verandah, having the new walls around the rumpus would allow for sound insulation and the two sets of doors between theh rumpus and living areas should improve separation without losing the separate study (guest room) and access to the other bedrooms and bath...accurate measurements would allow better consideration of this idea

You didn't mention the face-brick wall that is a real feature of this room. If you are keeping this brick wall as it is I would go with a plain white benchtop, as a marble will be lost with the face brickwork and feature timber. I think that you are on the right track with the grey floor tiles, however a bluestone grey is a cool grey, and you have a lot of warmth in the brickwork and timber. I would suggest a plain warm grey tile, with a hint of brown , perhaps similar to the mortar colour in your brickwork would complement the rest of the room quite nicely.This is a render of one of my current jobs with a similar scheme to your proposed white and timber which works quite nicely for the 1970's home that it is in. I also think the rumpus room would be best used as the dining area as this will give easy access from the kitchen and also when BBQ is used you can sit outside or eat indoors with ease. What kid of lounges and size do you have to fit, TV side boards etc. I s the kitchen bench sit up to. I would like to see the computer on the back wall, No wireless! so as to keep on eye on kids use cheers

Are the incorrect measurements too generous or not? ... I would probably place a side board/buffet against the wall adjoining master so this is the view from the door, then a lower height desk next to it. Dining table in that space also. Will you have stools along the kitchen counter? I'd then the rumpus for living room space.
