Need help with my nursery
Comments (13)Yellow is a beautiful colour for gender neutral rooms, it can be either pale and sunny or gorgeous rich mustards like this above. The turquoise blues can be teamed with it for a retro feel and navy looks great too, on the other hand, lighter tones can be put with it against white as an overall colour, it works for either boy or girl. Typography or letter art looks smart and sweet in a nursery, bright primary colored alphabets in frames, eye test charts, or words that articulate your thoughts for your babies space look sweet too. You can start to tie in with your babies initials, monograms sticker on their linens, a custom cushion with colored embroidery on a casual armchair in the corner look great, mdf letters are cheap you can paint them with a sample pot or two for temporary colour. Same with a canvas, cover it with a staple gun or hot glue with a nice fabric you like from a fabric store, pick a pattern, print or theme, maybe pick a colour out from it and use on accessories, for example a fabric of sketched birds with leaves twigs and owls, in blues greens and mustards, you could get some mustard, green and caramel frames, pillows, blankets or lamps, cover the shade in the same feature fabric, suddenly you have great neutral walls, white furniture as your build off colour, temporary pattern in a canvas print for their wall, glue on white painted letters either initials or simply ABC onto the centre of the canvas to become a large custom print, tie in with a cushion in the. Same fabric, suddenly your print is scattered around the room, tied in with coordinating colours in linens etc, and some cute little quirky things, and it's already sweet and trendy for your little tot. Books and more books, are great they look good, and encourage a love for reading, you Both will benefit fro it early on, I have seen a bookstand that is a cloud shape, holding a dozen books or so, sits on the floor next to a chair, paint in a great blue, depending on your palette, this works for boy or girl, just adjust the colour tones to either sex once their born. Ie paler lilacs and things if a girl, or darker navy etc if a boy....See MoreI NEED HELP WITH ROUGH THICK UNEVEN BRICK WALLS
Comments (24)Hi dinkidi4, I'm dealing with the same thing right now. I did paint some of the walls white, which have been good for the time I've been here before doing the 'real' job, however, I don't want this really textured look from the bricks as there are too many walls. I'm about to try Dulux Acra tex on a wall to see if it gives a smoother bagged finish. So still showing the brick lines but not so rough. I'll show photos of the original bricks. Dark, very textured with lots of holes and missing bits of brick as well as deep grout grooves. Such a hard decision - cost and I don't want to make it a flat boring plasterboard house. I have extremely high cathedral ceilings so not a cheap job to plaster either. Excuse the white box - I was playing with it to look at removing arches. Any thing else you've found out since would be a great help...See MoreWall art for lounge room, help pls
Comments (8)I would suggest hanging a large moroccan woven fabric or mat, just use a length of dowel along the top edge, and hang it up. It would add great texture and also a casual feel to the room. Dress up the couch with a bunch of patterned cushions and a bolster moroccan style. A silky fabric sun filter curtain would finish off the look. https://nz.pinterest.com/pin/299911656409300053/ https://nz.pinterest.com/pin/405675878916401870/ https://nz.pinterest.com/pin/431219733049382426/...See Morenursery makeover
Comments (6)Hello You have lovely furniture for your little boy Yes, I think you could change the position of your furniture now that your son has different requirements Is it possible to move the cot to the wall opposite the wardrobes & place the change table under the window That way, when change time comes, the baby will have a view of the sky to occupy him! Add some interesting bunting to the window frame to move in the breeze Or replace blind with a more colourful one If you no longer need the nursing chair, perhaps the large black one could be moved out & be replaced with a lighter (rattan) chair Repurpose the sheepskin- on the chair for softness? Add some low shelving for toys & books Introduce some vivid colour - which, as you know, children love A yellow cushion on the new chair; a multi-coloured rug on the floor for playtime; an appropriate mural on the wall above the cot or a lovely multi stripe wallpaper Have fun with your project It is lovely to see that your new baby is so loved...See MoreLittleboysmum
