oxblood red is the exact shade i was looking at. and just to clarify, the room would be predominantly white (605), with navy blue (30%) and then just some red accessories - maybe just a cushion on the couch, and some bar stools in the kitchen. @shortped, I have actually had yellow in my kitchen for the last 2 houses (17years) so am just a bit over it! was trying to brak out a little bit.

Switch the front window and your side entrance door, this way your door is visible from the street. Then turn the window in the pantry into a door to gain access more directly to your kitchen, a closet and maybe a bench for gathering items on the way in or out. It looks like you have to go up a small flight of stairs to get to the door, otherwise I'd say put the additional entrance on the cellar wall on the left of your plan. Depending on space you may need to slide this new mud room entrance to the left and you might have room for a longer closet along the pantry wall and a bench opposite the closet along the outside wall. You would lose the cellar but I am not sure if that is another storage area or access to a basement. Just some ideas. Really like the rest of the layout. Hope my little picture helps to explain my ideas.

Thank you Lizzy, I can see your point. If I had my way, the speakers would go and I would have more discreet. I am not sure what you mean about moving the right hand couch closer. Do you mean move it closer to the right side? The heaters can't be painted however I realise we need to paint the walls. Not sure whether we could just do the same colour down the bottom as what is on top, which would be easy. If it is a complete colour change, that would mean painting the window frames etc, the blinds would have to come down, and it is all too hard. I would like to make the side table more of a focus however that is where my husband sits, so I can't crowd it too much. A new rug is definitely on the list once I get back to work. I would also like to change the coffee table, however it is great storage. I know I need to work on dressing it up a bit. Lizzy, I love your idea of the shelves. Thank you for your inspirational photos. I will look into that. I will also look at changing out the speakers. Thank you so much ladies for your input, I really appreciate it. think about fencing some hard floored area with a simple baby gate (available on kmart, target, bigW and on line) ...if he has his favourite bed and toys in the temporary goal, combined with strict regular training and walks he will eventually get the message but you must always respond positively when he does and make a restricted space so accidents only happen in a restricted area...i know our dogs are special but they're quite happy in a small space all day as long as they know they can expect your attention and a walk when you arrive home or, weather permitting, a morning walk is even better and they can sleep all day...I was never happy to allow my dog to be left outside alone as they can have injuries (especially if you have tempting rodents to chase) and a special dog like Mace might be tempting to a thief..keep him inside unless you're outside with him
