Here is our client's 'wish list and the design solutions we used to create and award-winning kitchen...

We hope reading this might inspire you to think about what are the absolute must-haves you would want in your new kitchen?

Client’s Wish List I

Client’s home is a 1940’s crème brick which is having a major update inside and out to become very contemporary. The position gives 180 degree views over Port Phillip Bay and the kitchen design needs to blend and enhance the amazing outlook. Client also feels he would like a masculine, if not slightly moody feel to this work area.

Our Design Solution I

To give a very contemporary and masculine feeling to this kitchen, we suggest a matt metallic 2 pac in a dark gun metal grey with a tinge of blue on the entire island section, including a custom-made canopy enclosing a under-mount rangehood. The full height section is a combination of new age veneer (carbon) in grey blue tone used to frame the pantry/fridge/appliance run and the 2 pac section in a pale grey blue. These colours were chosen to reflect the waters natural colours when in little sun light, yet still dark enough when a very sunny day, to not over light the whole kitchen feel and still retain a moody feel.

Client’s Wish List II

The kitchen solution is to be handle less and simple, and client is open to multiple finishes. Also regarding the finishes, a very serviceable benchtop is paramount. Another necessity is an informal meals area attached to kitchen.

Our Design Solution II

The handle profile is designed to be routered into doors to give a minimal feel, yet still plenty of grip to open the pantries and integrated fridges.

The bench top material is Dekton Sirius, a black engineered material which looks and feels great, but is also extremely durable .This has been done in 12mm to give a fine and minimising affect to edges . The raised breakfast bar area is matching veneer to the tall section that frames fridges etc etc., this not only gives continuity but slightly softens the effect of the more harsh dark greys on the island section.
