Comments (3)Your view may be the wow factor- You may be better to put your wow into the splash back as ultimately it is less expensive to change. A total rebuild has many areas for cost over runs so with a large area, I would look at your overall budget and how much you are allocating for bench tops - This will help determine what you can afford and ultimately your choices. Depending on the surface dark benches can be harder to keep looking clean. I suggest you borrow some samples and bring them home - wet them and wipe them etc...See MoreCan you have too much Shaker style in your kitchen? What’s your vote?
Comments (3)I happen to love shaker style, but it kind of depends on the mood/style you're going for in the rest of the house. Your floating shelves are already a bit modern/transitional, and most of what you see from the back of the island is glass upper cabinets so I think you could easily go the modern/transitional direction with the clean doors. If you're more into traditional, and are planning on going that direction with light fixtures and furniture, etc., continue with the shaker....See MoreWhat are your “must haves” in your Primary suite ?
Comments (11)Hi @Macyjean, it’s always those impracticalities like one thing being in front or on top of another that drive us mad. Most of the time we only have one hand free to grab an object and it’s ridiculously frustrating to have to move a towel to get to the t.paper. I think every photo on social media has to be used as inspiration only, and through the lens of”how would my things and lifestyle actually fit and work here” . Most people, most days can barely get through the laundry list let alone when it’s raining, , your family have come down with a virus and the new puppy hasn’t yet finished toilet training. These are the real days of our lives where we need to just reach the toilet paper, and everything else without hassle. Re the luggage, it’s the same for anything that needs storing- the things you use most need to be closest to you and where they are used. The things less used in the less valuable spaces. Unless you have acres of storage(which actually has you walking miles from one end of the home to another, following a hierachy such as this is the way most people have to live . This can be greatly enhanced though with a lot of thought going into how and where you do activities, what your physical capabilities and limits are and then designing ergonomically to those parameters. (it’s the not so sexy aspect of interior design that we specialise in:)) You can see the blum space step drawer you mentioned here , it’s great. I’ve included it into dressing rooms for shoes and providing access to the upper storage cabinets https://www.blum.com/au/en/products/cabinet-applications/space-step/overview/ And I’m glad we’ve got you thinking- it might spur a solution to your luggage:)...See MoreComplete Kitchens
