What sort of blinds and what colours???

Im finding it hard to decide on type of blind and colour for our renovated house. I was first thinking of those shear roller blinds where you could see through, but then wondered if that would provide enough block from the sun in the bedrooms etc. So thought the double blinds would be good for bedrooms-however what colour should I choose-I don't know whether to go light or dark! And should the shear and blackout double blinds be the same colour?

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

personally I think you just wanted to show off your stunning views! why, other than bedroom would you want to block that out?

☺️ thank you - the views are important, one of the reasons we decided to stay and renovate, so maybe those windows in the kitchen/dining area don't need blinds? Some people have told me they all need blinds-so I guess that's why I was confused

I am a big ambience person wood jay and Angela, of an evening I like to draw the curtains, turn on the lamps and make the house cosy. :) Not only that but with small children, I want the option of using our lounge space for sleepovers in the future so we would need blind there for that reason. :)

Of course you would pottsy. I would probably consider each room separately. If curtains in front I’d probably go wall/trim colour. But in other rooms depends on mood. My kids rooms are all different but soft colours. One boy has a soft blue another green and my daughter just opted for light grey with her black and white theme. The soft colours don’t dominate and most people don’t even notice the colour. Now if they were decorative Roman blinds say then you want them noticed. Pale grey would work with your windows and carpet without being too dominating. But what do you want from blindsL

I have a similar family room, with big windows and a sliding door and we have block out Roman blinds on them. They sit at the top of the windows most of the time as we don't have any privacy issues with being looked in at by the neighbours. We really only put them down at night in the winter. Ours have a creamy coloured background with taupy wavy lines on them. Very neutral. I never could have imagined that's what I wanted til I saw the fabric. It doesn't look like you have privacy issues, so you don't need any blinds except for winter nights maybe. In that case just get automated roller blinds or Roman blinds .

My daughter had blinds in her house similar to this. They were amazing, sun filters as well as privacy. Goggle blind store for different blinds

Show off!! such beautiful views that you wouldn't want to cover, you could consider curtains the same as wall colour pulled back onto wall for keeping winter warmth, same in bedrooms but you could use white shutters in the bedroom windows they should look great from the outside as well, what colour are the exterior walls. Other than that you could use external blinds between the deck posts

Great idea! Thank you, I love the curtains and shutters. We get a lot of afternoon sun through these windows and so can heat up in the summer (I'm in Australia). So that's why I put these pictures up of the windows I'm most unsure what to do...

Hi Kerrie, I'am Aussie as well. If you have issues with sun and heat on these windows & doors you would need to consider something to keep the sun off the glass, as was told to me and does that once the glass heats up that is transferred inside. If you only have interior blinds you need to be able to create some through ventilation with opening doors or windows to allow the heat to escape cheers

Hi Kerrie yes that or a pergola/Vergola . We had to use exterior blinds on our house to help control summer sun, we also have internal shutters, double dipping I know but it makes the house much cooler cheers

guess it all depends on how insulated your house is. how cold or hot it gets. if you have enough eaves to shade, should do the trick for summer. might consider double glazing if your place gets too cold or hot.
