I see this is a very old thread , with lots of comments . I've just skim read them , but I haven't seen anyone suggest anything like my 'top-of-my-head' idea -- I love the wood , and the white contrast , but pretty boring . Whats your favourite colour , or what ties in with the other rooms ? It might be blue or red or yellow or orange or green , as examples . So paint the skirting board and around the door a pastel shade of your choice , and add a small 30cm x 30cm abstract painting featuring that colour as the primary dominant one , above ( or possibly below , or maybe even get 2 matching/complementary ones ) the control panel . One lighting crowd suggested glass shades -- I'd actually go for someothing large but wooden , in much the same shade as your floors and steps , with LED bulbs -- you can get some stunning ones around 80-100 cm in diameter ( sort of a star ball shape ) for $300-400 . Total budget then $500 plus a painter and maybe electrician , unless you DIY .

This demonstrates little reduction in quality of views overlooking the sea but offers many benifits to the customers with out having to close blinds / curtains etc. The other two showing the full reflective film on a commercial shop front with views from both inside and outside as a comparison . ( please note; taking photos facing windows will often result in misleading picture quality due to any glare present , thus resulting in misleading darker looking window views than what normally results from using most tinted films .) The actual light reduction difference between these two films is approx 9% with the reflective being the darker of the two and comparable to a popular dark grey low reflective shade that's also widely popular . Any one requiring some unbiased comments regarding this subject are quite welcome to call me . Although I live in Tasmania , I do offer my services not only Australia wide but also overseas if the need arises . As to the life expectancy of these products . As these are manufactured world wide , the quality ( or lack of) plus the degree of experince and willingness of the installer to make sure they want to try an do a good job ; can make a Hugh difference to the last -ability . Hi Cassie, we had a similar dilema when we last built and opted for higher benches by increasing the height of the kickboards. The benches ended up at 950cms. I'm not as tall as you (167cm) but still find this height really comfortable. For me the cooktop bench is a little high, only because we have a gas cooktop with the hobs that sit up and so that adds a bit extra height, especially when using tall pots. We got the suggestion from my brother, a builder who is also very tall and so is his wife, so they do this each time they build.

My ensuite pre renovation had a floating vanity. The only issue was that the plumbing went down into the slab and this was visible when you were lying in bed, so no option but a floor mount for me. Due to the existing wall cavity I was only able to partially recess the mirrored cabinet but it still looks great. The PowerPoints are within the cabinet so none are visible but there is a cord hole at the cabinet base the can’t be seen. You may be restricted by existing structures if this is not a new build.
