We had similar color in our laundry and simply changed the rolled edge laminex with a bevilled edge stone benchtop and stainless steel handles that fitted the existing drilled holes. (We also upgraded the wall and floor tiles and added the overhead cupboards in the end, but really could have just changed the bench tops as that made an enormous difference by itself). You have knob handles so you can't use longer handles as there is the predrilled hole. Our laminate cupboards were in good condition so I didn't want to change them but by changing the bench top and handles, we got a more modern look. Bench guys came in, measured the bench, gave quote on the color we chose, were gone in about 20 mins, delivered the new stone tops 3 weeks later, glued them on, perfect fit, bevilled off the square edge for softer look, cleaned the stone surface of its natural dust and the whole process took 30 minutes and cost $1800. It's composite stone and looks great. Couldn't believe the difference in the change to the room.

I would have to say, it is not, a no no. However, how you decide to do this will determine whether it is positive or negative. If the toilet is in direct view as you enter it is likely to be negative, but the impact can be reduced with a smaller pan and an in-wall cistern. Noise and smell are often factors that will influence the decision. So, the smell can be overcome with an automated odor extraction system and there are also low noise inlet valves available. As far as property value is concerned there is a multitude of scenarios and just as many opinions, so consider how much convenience this will give you and how long you intend to stay in the property? perhaps it may be better enjoy your home the way you would like it to be.

Hi Kirsty, could you please advise the colour of your vanity and whether it is a custom made one and if not, could you let me know its name and where you bought it. Also, what is the colour of your floors tiles and where did you get them from. (I have come to the conclusion that charcoal/dark grey tile plus a much lighter grey tile plus white on some walls plus a timber vanity or timber accessories in bathroom , plus white (or close to it) below sink counter top is the way to go for a beautiful bathroom. The trick is figuring out exactly what proportion of each colour to use and where to put them for each particular layout.

I should have clarified that this has been a rental for 15 years and was in good condition when we bought and reno but since then various tenants and their pets have done plenty of damage so as dejected landlords, we want to spend as little as possible just to make it presentable again for a couple of years before we put it on the market.
