Comments (13)Really good basic decorating. Now accessorise to give it some finish - an indoor plant to hide the extension cord socket, some artwork on the wall beside the lounge, a couple of cushions on the lounge and something colourful at one end of the entertainment unit - maybe a nice bowl. You can even plan a cosy throw for winter. The greens like Helenscolour used will really cheer the area up, but you could use any colours you like. This is the beauty of your basic colours, you can change the accessories to suit your moods or the seasons. Do you need some end tables at all? A lamp or lamps could go on them for some soft lighting if you wanted....See MoreInspiration for living area and front room!
Comments (7)Hi Ben, As the room appears quite dark, it needs some pops of colour for interest, perhaps in the form of artwork or cushions. Accessories in a light colour (maybe a cream or off-white) may also serve to brighten up the room. A nice thick throw rug can add some texture. There should be a large artwork placed above the couch to serve as a focal point. Tones of orange or deep yellow usually work quite well with blue. Over the lamp table an artwork can be placed that echoes some of the colours of the artwork over the sofa. This can either be hung or leaned against the wall for a more relaxed look. Accessories that are asymmetrical in size can be placed on the table. Hope this helps....See MoreInspiration for dining room
Comments (4)If you are looking for a sideboard in a similar style as your dining setting go for same timber tone to connect the 'dining room' function. Your china cabinet will become the feature piece in the room. As suggested above a large rug under the table and some art work should warm the look you want to achieve and tie the different timber colours together. Are you going to change the light fitting? Something in a more contemporary style centered over the table would make a statement. Good luck with your project....See MoreInspiration needed for family room
Comments (7)This is a great space with lots of potential! If you put shelves where the black lamp is, I would suggest also putting the same set of shelves on the other side of the TV to help balance the TV wall. Alternatively, you could put floating shelves on the vacant wall to the left of the TV (first pic) and that will free up the TV wall for a longer entertainment unit when you look at replacing the furniture. I would add a more commanding floor lamp to replace the current one - something that will take up a little more room. A tripod lamp would look best and you can find them really inexpensively these days from Kmart or Freedom. With the artwork, make sure all pieces are hung at the same height, and at an average persons height eye level. To minimise the look of clutter, have all pictures and art in the same frames where possible. Where the Red ottoman is, you can create a nice a wall of family photos all in the same frames. If you purchase some art, get one nice piece with colours that you love. Then select up to two colours from the art and find some scatter cushions for the lounge. This will really lift the room without costing a fortune. If you're on a budget, Shop at Freedom when there's sales - you'll be able to find some really good modern pieces that aren't overly expensive. Finally, Make sure the TV is not mounted too high - Have someone sit on the lounge and guide the person hanging it. Good luck and remember to keep it simple. :)...See MoreJE C
