Comments (66)you are super-patient!!! :) :) thank you :) I'm so sorry but I do actually have a couple MORE thoughts!! argh! there are just so many different options.... and this is a bit of an all consuming puzzle to try to solve. here they are: 1) study could become main bathroom - leaving new Bed 4 as per plan since it is bigger & a better size for guests. in this option, some area could be stolen from the study to boost ensuite size - even if it just made the ensuite 1 full metre. Ideally not requiring study window to change. 2) WC could potentially be separate either within this space OR at the back of the old kitchen (allowing for the remaining, longish hall wall to be shorter again) oklouise you may think some of these ideas are not very workable & I'd be so glad for your feedback & comment (and anyone else's comments as well), it's really so incredibly helpful - unbelievably helpful - to have everyone's input. i'd love recommendations on which ideas & options might work best for that balance between function & budget...See MoreHomeowners! Comments (54)We have been building our house for over two years now. The supply chain downturn has made it a nightmare. We are camping on the mezzanine floor of our warehouse so it isn't costing us to wait, but if I had rented a property while building we would be in trouble now. I purchased most of our plumbing supplies early in the build so at least those items have not gone up in price, but many others have. We ordered and paid for a cantilever pool awning in February this year, and it was sent in three lots. The last delivery was two weeks ago. I suspect the company was having a hard time getting it out of China, so not their fault. We had quotes for fly screens/security screens that totalled over $25,000. We had to forgo the security screens in favour of fly screens for most of the house. We had a quote for a large aluminium mesh panel to place on the front left corner of the house which was over $25,000 also. The fencing company got an order wrong and we ended up with the wrong colour louvre panels on the front driveway sliding gates, plus the wrong colour for a fence. We have managed to turn it into a positive by keeping the wrong coloured louvre blades, and they will now be put up vertically on the front corner of the house, instead of the aluminium mesh. They are six metres long, but the house is two stories, so all good. We had to keep the gate panels the same, so the wrong colour will have to be exchanged for the right colour. People are still building houses here, and some of them are going up very fast, so I don't understand why ours has taken so long. We have purchased most of the goods locally, but I suppose the suppliers are having trouble getting them from overseas. I am at the point where I am losing interest in this house, which is a shame because it will be a beautiful house when finished....See MoreBudget bathroom reno: colour ideas needed
Comments (15)The colour downstairs is okay , but the upstairs work so far almost looks like a waste IMO . Not much has changed , except some black fittings . Yes , I know , the vanities are new and the basin is a different shape -- stuff you'd almost miss if you didn't know . You have old style bath , old style tiles , old style glass or plastic panel , with old style pink frames . At the very least , I'd change the glass and frame and basically anything that looks old , and you pretty much have to go with a black or charcoal frame and tinted glass . From the tiles up , white walls . A black framed mirror . A nice feature light or downlights . A couple of potplants in colourful glazed pots . Pick a colour , and go with it . So the pots , towels , liquid soap dispensers , toothbrush holders , bathmat , even the shaver on the wall -- all in green or yellow or red or something you like -- black will get boring real quick IMO , but also keep away from white accessories -- that would be too much !...See MoreHelly Rankin
