Facade colour help!
Comments (1)Not sure what state you are in or what company your dealing with but most companies would be able to at least put a colour board together to give a client some idea of the final scheme. If your funds are limited you could grab a brick and go to your local paint or hardware store make a selection of card colour samples that best match your other finishes it may put your mind at ease to see them laid together. Without understanding the style of home and it's surroundings it is hard to determine whether it will work. Good luck hope all works out well for you. Keep us posted. Comments (8)Hi Chris. I like the colour scheme and materials for your house, although a few things come to mind. Why have two different timber finishes, Merbau and Western Red Cedar? Is Merbau not available as a garage panel? Or is Western Red Cedar not available as post cladding? If they are both available for both applications, I would choose one for both applications. You mention black Sikaflex as joint filler for the cladding, and off-White mortar for bricks. Would you consider black mortar for brickwork for consistency, or do you not like the look of it? I bring these questions up because there are a lot of materials, which is great, but maybe minimising the number of colours and using them more consistently would produce a more cohesive visual outcome. I googled images for brickwork and black Sikaflex and this is the only decent one I could find quickly - just to give you an idea of how it might look....See MoreFacade Dilemma HELP
Comments (9)I like existing brick but not that shade of green so I'd clad new extension in complementary colour to brick walls that aren't to be extended and I like white windows if roof doesn't need tiles replaced repointing etc I'd leave You could do basalt colour gutters etc and cladding with white trim on gables and depending on views light have some more modern perhaps double glazed windows on extension. Windows need to be all same colour on the front wall eg white painted timber if that's what your existing colonial windows are but don't need to be same shape. Just some ideas...See MoreFacade help 1975 home
Comments (17)Thank you all so much for your feedback & Idea's. The biggest struggle I have is trying to find a similar style home that has been updated to get some ideas. We didn't buy the home because we love its look, we bought it because we wanted to get into the property market & thought with some love we can make it suit more of our style. Does anyone know what style of house we have? I know above a beachcomber house is mentioned & while very similar it's not exactly the same. I've always thought this style of house to be like a pizza hut house as from the back its got the same sort of shape and similar roof. There are afew houses in my area with the same style home but non have been updated. totally agree with fixing the garden & love the photo suggestions. Below is a pic of the back of our house before we painted the window trims white....See More- 7 years ago
