My bedroom is part of a large basement area and I used that same blue to do the walls in dado style (half-half). The bottom half of the walls is the lovely strong blue and the top is a soft warm almost-white. The ceiling is white. It looks fantastic and two years on I still love it. I find the colour combination to be very restful despite the fact that it is quite intense. I accessorised in silver, including a silver bed spread and added small pops of turquoise. It's a fantastic colour, go for it!!

Charcoal will give you more scope to mix in other items around the pool and is much more modern.

I would vote for the top example here. Itr gives an earthy tone to the room and yet is still bright and wont show every piece of dust or food.
